i am a young guy so i never got a chance to read the original comics and of course they are much harder to obtain now but i really would like to read the all the issues and saw this book on this book on amazon and was wondering if this is just the thing i was looking for, its the first volume of what i guess is a complilation off all the original issues?

and yes that's the first volume of the amazing spider-man
the essential series is all in black and white.

actually they are up to volume 6 in the essential series. it goes up to 137 of amzaing spider-man.
