Stallone Says 'Rocky' Has Another Chapter
By Brill Bundy
July 12, 2004
Even though movie audiences haven't heard from Rocky Balboa since 1990's "Rocky V," when the permanently injured champ return to Philadelphia to become a mentor, rather than a fighter, star Sylvester Stallone says that he still thinks there's more to tell although the project hasn't been started yet.
"We're pushing towards that. I think it will come to fruition," says Stallone, who was nominated for two Oscars in 1977 in association with the first "Rocky," and who wrote all five films. "It's pretty much based on what George Foreman is doing and has done with his life.
"So, to me, it gives it credibility. It takes it away from just about boxing. It's about a certain ideal."
Not that it sounds as if "Rocky VI" will be particularly upbeat as Stallone expands on what he wants to accomplish with the film.
"As you get older, you realize that life changes. Quite often you're not ready to step aside," he opines. "You're not maybe ready to watch the parade go by.
"It's about redemption and also trying to follow one's dream to the very end. What you lack in skill you may not make up in will."
More immediate for Stallone is NBC's upcoming reality show "The Contender," where 16 aspiring boxers are put through training camp with the goal of becoming a true champion. Stallone represents the "fictional" side of the sport, and Olympic gold medalist Sugar Ray Leonard will be on hand for the "reality" side.
DreamWorks founder Jeffrey Katzenberg (who executive produces "The Contender" along with reality show king Mark Burnett) asserts that something that Stallone said about "Rocky" became the project's mantra.
"From the time we got into business with him, he has said to us, '"Rocky" is Adrian's story, and don't ever forget it. It is seen through her. It's where the heart and it's where the emotion is.'"

YAWN.....
Reminds me of a poster ad that I saw as a gag of course in Airplane II The Sequel. The ad was a pardoy of Rocky III which said Rocky XXXVI I believe :D
The series is tired already.... And whos left? Meredith has passed on....
Carl Weathers pretty much well (see Rocky IV) and Talia Shire does she want to come back?

Stallone Says 'Rocky' Has Another Chapter
Read: Stallone says "I am resorting to great lengths to scrounge up another hit. So much so, that a dead and dated series might be my last chance at box office redemption."

Speaking of beating dead horses and such, this reminds me of an old SNL joke that David Spade made towards Eddie Murphy on his Hollywood Minute skit:
"Look kids! A falling star, make a wish."

Shouldn't they be talking Over The Top 2: More Over The Top and/or Judge Dread 2: This Time Rob Schnieder Dies During The Opening Credits before dragging out Rocky again?

I liked the first Rocky and that was it.
If he wants to do another Rocky he should get a fresh new face and a new Rocky type story. Not another rehash. it lost its charm, IMO

Well he fought a Russian during the cold war, maybe he could kick some Taliban ass for Rocky VI, eh?

They should just make a Rocky VS Rambo movie and be done with it.

That's an awesome idea! Can Oscar come, too?
Oh, I'm so funny! Stop, stop.... Stop or My Mom Will Shoot! Oh, ho ho ho... I'm so funny.
The battle between Rambo and Rocky could be a Deathrace between who works hardest at Staying Alive, and who can achieve ultimate Victory! My guess is that Rambo would draw First Blood, and Rocky could initiate a devestating blow with his F.I.S.T. - all the while stinging like a bee and biting like a Cobra - to cause Rambo to be Driven up and Over the Top of the ropes, knocked out cold. It would seem like Rambo may never open his eyes and see Daylight again, but at least he could know that he lived The Good Life and saved Colonel Trautman's ass more than once!
With heroic effort, Rambo would muster his diminishing but not untapped remaining strength, and like a quick D-Tox to the clearing of his head, he'll point one gloved finger at Rocky and say, "Eye See You".
I'll stop now.

I would be up for a Rocky VI...
If the character didn't suffer irreversible brain damage in the fifth film.

I dont mind a new Rocky film only if Rocky dies at the end with a voice over by Adrian, but theyve painted themselves into a corner by saying Rocky has brain damage from Draco hitting him.

Rocky VI - Feel The Heat
After several years in the wilderness, Rocky Balboa shuffles back into the spotlight with his greatest creation yet, the Lean Mean Filling Machine! This incredible gadget not only creates a thousand and one different sandwich fillings, but is also useful for wedging cinema doors shut to prevent audiences from escaping mid-screening, and for standing on to reach that elusive shoebox at the back of the closet containing your dignity!

We don't really need a sixth Rocky. Part 4 was awesome though.

Since he wants to do another Rambo and Rocky, he should just go ahead and do Rambo vs Rocky. Save us all a bunch of trouble of having to see 2 crappy movies. Just make it one. Throw in a cameo from Cobra and Judge Dredd and I think you might have an oscar contender.

Rambo vs. Rocky?
And I thought I had heard it all... :D
And by the way, with the special effects, we could see a movie where every single character would be played by Sylvester Stallone. He would be nominated in many acting categories. But the question is, what Award would be that nomination for?

"we could see a movie where every single character would be played by Sylvester Stallone."
They already tried that. It was called Spy Kids 3-D.

Hahahaha.... nope. Feel the same.
Time to leave Rocky alone NOW, just as much as 4 years ago.
Didn't really like, ROCKY. Certainly not enough to warrant it as a redemptive title.
RAMBO, on the other hand...

I sometimes feel like I'm the only Rocky fan who didn't like "Rocky Balboa". It felt like a really badly made across the board, pale remake of the original.

I hope they end it with Rocky Balboa. They did need to finish the series on something better than V though. I wouldn't mind another Rambo flick.
