A Question that has been bugging me (and is probably really obviously answered):

In movies/tv programs when they have a photo of a character taken when they were younger/in the past, is that photo real(as in the actor when they were younger)? or was it photoshopped and blended together to make it look autnentic? or is it somebody else?

This bugs me whenever I watch a movie but I always forget to ask afterwards:confused:

Usually the directors try to get ACTUAL photos of the actors when they were younger if its needed for backdrop purposes or a flashback scence. Photoshop is sometimes involved in pasting their heads VERY BADLY on other bodies.

I've instances where I would say it definately a real picture of the actor as a child or whatever... But there have been times when the pictures don't really bare any resemblance at all or just look faked. Not sure if that's photo shop or another actor or what...

If you look at the pictures next to the door at the end of Scream 3 you can see a picture of Neve and her Grandad. Whos Scottish! WooHoo

As BorderEvil said, pics are sometimes enhanced in Photshop and look-alike programs, but very often real photos are used (e.g. Being John Malkovich, where you can see dozens of early Malkovich pics on the wall of a mansion).

Something interesting (or maybe not) is that in The Shawshank Redemption, the appeal jury has a portfolio with a picture of Freeman’s character when he was younger, from the mugshot taken right as he was arrested. It looks just like him, but it is not a photo of a young Morgan Freeman (I guess he didn’t have any mugshots taken from his younger years), but of his son, who looks very much like him. (The convict who was saying "Fresh fish! Reeling ‘em in!" was also played by his son.)

So yeah, it looks like directors still prefer actual pictures to digital fakes.
