Knocking Spider-Man off his top post this week was the legendary knight KING ARTHUR who sliced up $3,348,338 (US $35,395,052) over the weekend. With considerably bigger and better film on offer this week compared to last week, money making sequels SPIDER-MAN 2 and SHREK 2 suffered 51% and 50% drops respectively. But in their 3rd and 5th weeks of release, they still managed impreesive weekend intakes of $2,271,047 and $2,134,486. On the total tallies, Tobey Maguire's web ways rack up to $20,767,603 (US $219,532,913), whilst the almighty ogre can call $46,244,280 (US $488,845,127) his own. Nicole Kidman's venture into joining THE STEPFORD WIVES earned her a neat little $2,115,253 (US $22,360,195), whilst Michael Moore's controversial documentary FARENHEIT 9/11 scored $723,462 (US $7,647,667) on its round of Advance Screenings. Last week's main releases GODSEND and THE WHOLE TEN YARDS unsurprisingly suffered considerable drops in their second week. The clone chiller was off 63% to a total so far of $945,005 (US $9,989,583), whilst Willis and Perry lost 69% of audience interest to a 2 week intake of $831,204 (US $8,786,600). Val Kilmer's thriller SPARTAN only opened on 36 screens and didn't have the promotional push of Arthur or Stepford, so it only scoring $119,103 (US $1,259,029) was no surprise. The disaster hit THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW had enjoyed 7 weeks in the Top 10, but this week it spends its 8th week of release at #14 after declining a mammoth 72%. The Jake Gyllenhaal vehicle hasn't performed badly though, with a sizeable sum of $20,026,821 (US $211,702,157). Far from the zombies and vampires they fought in Dawn of the Dead and Underworld, Sarah Polley and Scott Speedman turned up at #20 this week with their acclaimed drama MY LIFE WITHOUT ME, which, on a miniscule 6 screens, managed $48,215 (US $509,677).

THIS WEEK (July 22nd): Will Smith endures murderous mechanics; and Bond meets his love match.

Shrek 2 might give Titanic a scare the way its going! $10million more needed and by the ways its going, it just might! What does that say about us as a country to have a cartoon the highest grossing movie ever? :D

I tried to get seats for Farenheit 9/11 but was sold out in every sesion over the weekend! poo! Interesting that F9/11 is the highest opening for a Doco in Aust. And thats just the Preview screening!

Cant Wait for I,Robot this week!

Keep up the good work FilmBuff

Thanks Unicron.

I agree, Shrek 2 may be on its way to the top. It's already Number 5 on the All Time Charts, and it will definitely surpass the LOTR films here, only 3 Million to go there. Can it make 11 Million in its remaining time to come over Titanic? Who knows.

F9/11 has been doing well for itself, but it isn't a film i'm interested in seeing, but it will certainly do itself well when it opens nationally.

I suspect I,Robot to be the big winner this week.

***RELEASE UPDATE***

Originally set for a November release last year, then pushed back till mid March then May and now this week, the critically panned MY BOSS'S DAUGHTER opens on Aussie screens. Seeing as how long it took to get to the big screen, and it is only opening to a imited amount of cinemas, looks like it would've been better going straight to video.
