Thunderball is my third favorite Bond film. i like Largo and SPECTRE as the villains. The movie also had a good plot that could happen. I really like the bond girl and that underwater sex scene. This is also the only movie where bond gets shot. The only better movies to me that were better were goldnEye and Goldfinger

Thunderball has some nice moments like the jet pack opening sequence & the underwater battle but overall I think it's kind of dull.
The sequence on Largo's island in particular seems to drag on forever.
I know it's sacrilege to say this but I think I even prefer Never Say Never Again if it came down to a straight choice between the two.
Thunderball is a bit of an anomaly for me.
I mean, it's got:
1) Connery at his smoove best.
2) Two insanely hot Bond girls.
3) Gadgets and intrigue.
4) Delicously hateable villain.
But despite all that, I just can't watch the whole thing. It's slow, and the action sequences are quite lacking. I just find it dull.

Thunderball is definitely one of my favorite Bond films, though not my favorite. First of all it's unique in that it has one of the few female villains that doesn't fall for Bond's charms. I always liked that about this flick. Not to mention that the female villain is freakin' HOT. Same goes for Domino. Throw in the cool underwater sequences, great (believeable) story, and I believe this is where the great gadgets started coming into play more predominantly.
I'll take this one over Never Say Never Again anyday.

Great movie but it needed another edit or two. I can't think of exact places off the top of my head but the picture is drastically too long. Other than that, fantastic, the last great Connery outing. Actually the last anything above crap Connery outing.

Hm... i find the underwater battle to be among the most boring parts of the film. there are great things in TB, but overall it's a slow one. as for NSNA, i believe i'd almost agree with you... almost. Connery played it with more humour in NSNA and while the film lacked the Bond "feel" with the lack of Barry's musical themes, it was more fun. having said that, Sean was in his Bond prime with TB, and it just fit in with the other gems of the 60's. i didn't care for the very 80's things going on in NSNA.
Although it has a number of slow spots, Thunderball is still a first-rate thriller. It has 2 gorgeous babes(Claudine Auger & Luciana Paluzzi), cool gadgets(who wouldn't want one of those jet-packs?), and great music(who doesn't love that Tom Jones song?).
It outclasses Never Say Never Again is every way(despite NSNA's sexy scenes between Sir Sean & Barbara Carrera).

Johnny Cash did an awesome unused theme for this film. Why am I just now discovering this?!

If I remember rightly there was a lot of legal problems with this film so in the end Kevin McClory who had wrote Thunderball went off years later and did Never Say Never Again which Broccoli tried to stop through the courts.Connery hated Broccoli with a passion for years as he thought he should have been paid more for all his Bond films and was very happy to give the finger when he accepted the lead role for Never Say Never Again.Out of the two Thunderball is the better movie but I still enjoy Never Say Never Again although it is not a 'Official' Bond film.My favourite out of Connery's films is Goldfinger and my favourite Bond is Rodger Moore.

Thunderball is one of my favorite Bonds. Its also immensely better then Goldfinger, which I find to be one of the worst Bonds. The popularity of Goldfinger blows my mind.
Thunderball is gorgeous to look at, has Connery giving his best Bond performance, Some of the most beautiful Bond girls, and the action scenes and plot are just all around better then Goldfinger imo.
Thunderball is definitely the best Connery Bond after From Russia With Love.

I love Thunderball. It's one of my favorite Bond movies; up there with Casino Royale, Goldfinger, and Goldeneye. I'd say Connery does his best as Bond in Thunderball. It's got two of my favorite Bond Girls and two of my favorite Bond Villains, Luciana Paluzzi is so hot I must mention her twice. The action is cool; the underwater sequences are excellent, and the chase during the parade is awesome. Thunderball is one that polarizes a lot of fans of the franchise, most of friends either love it or hate it.
