The movie "The Hole" that its a nice independent effort to do a cool movie..as in "Das Experiment"..are those movies..together with "Irreversible" and all those new violent and independent movies supposed to be NEW WAVE HORROR or are they supposed to be out of our Horror radars.
Cause that new movie "Haunte Tension" is supposed to be a Thriller but i donīt know if thatīs supposed to fit into the HORROR GENERE???
Got any good answers.

Never seen it but i'm guessing it is because i've heard much about it on these forums but then again a lot of non-horror stuff is also discussed on here (donnie darko, memento etc.)

In my opinion it's not a horror movie. It is, however, a bad movie.

Like the oustanding Das Experiment the other excellent The Hole is what I would call a psychological thriller.
Very good movies, both of them I mean.

I wouldn't class "The Hole" as a horror movie.....more of a thriller.
However, on a side note...."Haute Tension" a THRILLER!?!!? Not since I last saw it! That film is a horror movie through and through.
It's getting ridiculous, this inability by the mainstream moguls to accept the existence of the horror film within their ranks. Horror has become big again, and all we're hearing is things like "Haute Tension is a thriller", "28 Days Later is a biological thriller", "Dawn of the Dead 2004 is an action thriller".
Give me a break. HORROR MOVIES, PEOPLE! HORROR!

I think the one responsable for ir is.....Michael Jackson...if he wouldīve called his video "The Horror" instead of "The Thriller" maybe things would be different.

I think you could class The Hole as a horror. A lot of horror films have people trapped and dying in a dark, scary place, do they not? Anyway, I think it's a cool film.
Gotta mention Keira Knightley's tit shot!:) She was only fiftheen, though. Is that legal????!!

There's going to be a lot of confusion about labelling border-line flicks like this. One of these reasons is that genre's are often divided by what the main character/s want or try to achieve through their goal. In thrillers and horror movies, the goal is to survive. Plus, hollywood tries to put thriller into every genre-name, because most people associate "thrills" with excitement,
However, movies I call thrillers have things a lot of things in common, such as a fast pace, action (even if it is more of the suspensfull action sort), and almost always an a-b-c narrative structure. None of these things were in Hole, but Hole had a lot of stuff I associate with horror.
Such as, a suspensefull, yet slow pace that builds consistantly, a story told with characterization as opposed to plot, themes much deeper and suited for horror (such as the evils humans are capable of when put under drastic situations), and the spine of the story rooted in a deep mystery or secret (especially those of the main character, as was the case in this film).
So for me? Horror, no question. And for the record, I loved it. The soundtrack is still in my head, and Keira Knightly naked? How can you NOT love this film?
Mmmm...Desmond Harrington...*licks lips*

Personally I loved The Hole, it was pretty creepy and had an interesting storyline, I can't say it's exactly horror, I think it's more along the lines of a thriller bordering on horror.
