Just got my hands on a copy of this quite good Hindi slasher flick. If masked killer stalking dumb people sounds good to you you might be interested in this film.
Sssshhh seemingly saw the day when the director and script writer saw Scream and decided to make their own version of it. Even if you don't like this film's inspiration, you may still like it since it's kinda different of Hollywood's neo-slashers.
The film open with a quite tense sequence where a young girl and her boyfriend are training for a squash competition inside a large deserted sports hall at night. Suddently the guy vanish and a strange voice is heard telling the girl this will be her last night alive. Locked inside the court, she is finally freed with her boyfriend unlock the glass panels that hold her prisoner but he falls down dead, fatally wounded. She tries to escape but sees a bizarre man looking around. She hides in some kind of large arcade room with a bizarre life-like doll standing in the middle of the games. Unfortunately for her, the man was not the boy's killer but rather the masked maniac she mistook for a statue.
6 months later, her quite gorgeous sister and her equally gorgeous friends become the target of the same clown-faced killer. The main girl, Mahek, eventually starts to suspect her boyfriend might be the psycho when during an attack on her,she slams a door on the killer's arm and his coat's sleeve goes up revealing his watch and she realize that her boyfriend have the same watch as the killer.
Of course, the police finds a discarded costume and lock the guy up. But after a party, the killer reappears and tries to murder her and her friend but they are both saved by the heroic boyfriend....If he's not the killer, then who is?
If you saw Scream you'll probably guess who will turn out to be the killer pretty early, but the film have much to offer, including rave set-pieces, a groovy killer with an awesome mask, beautiful girls wearing revealing clothes and more...
One thing though.....since this is an Hindi movie, of course there are times where the cast suddently starts to sing and dance but these scenes are linked to the story so it's not that bad. Example: They do it in a discotheque.......one more thing......this film is 3 hours long......yep, 3 hours.....It drags sometimes....
On the slashing side of things, the murders are mostly stabbings and throat slittings but some deaths quite standout including a few classics like a fat lady teacher getting stabbed through the whole head and a girl whose throat is cut as her friends are trying to save her from drowning after she falls off their raft....After that they finally realize that one of them must be the killer.
On the female side of things:
Sadly none of the girls get naked but there are a few shots from a porn mag.....that's about it
Pretty cool slasher from India, but sadly it's a complete Scream rip-off. Read some user comments on Bollywood sites and people say that this film is quite original and the ending is one of the most surprising thnigs in the worlds.....Sounds like they haven't seen Craven's 96 classic....
