Tobey Maguire can't stop whining when he has this great superpower. He can't get a girl, and is late for his job. Boo freakin' who! I've seen better internal conflict in "Dawson's Creek"!

What is up with all of these reviewers hailing it as "the best movie of the year"! Its reptitive from the first, but without the fun of Peter learning of his new powers. There are several undeniable dull spots, the villian never seems villianous, and, as it turns out, there never was any real conflict between him and Mary whatever her name is. AND, for a relationship so hurried and shallowed, who cares if she doesnt get married!

I just think people are so ready to find a comic book movie that isnt shitty, that the first one that isnt outright BAD is hailed as WONDERFUl. And may I just say that "I Robot", which was just as unbelievable as Spider-man 2 was about 10 times more exciting than that other movie, with actually FRESH action scenes, and at least an ACTUAL attempt at being slightly inteliggent.

People are jaded.

Bud, that's the way the comics are. Dealing with the life of a superhero and still trying to have a normal one. If you don't like that, then you simply don't like Spiderman, period.

Yeah, too bad it failed horribly.

And what exactly was "fresh" about the action scenes?

The action scenes in "I Robot" weren't never before seen, but they were handled with an amount of excitement and wonderment that Spider-man 2 didn't have. Once you have scene a CGI guy jump off buildings once, you've seen it again. It was just so underwhelming compared to the hand to robat combat, which I thought was really well choreographed and got everyone in the theatre excited.

Nr. 1. That is in fact how the comics were, so I agree with Mr. Fred Krueger that if you don't like that, you just don't like Spiderman.

Nr. 2. And if we're to put this realistically: Boo-hoo that he's late for his job? You do know you get paid right? And you do know in order to afford...like...FOOD, you need money right?

Nr. 3. And last but not least, he's in love with M.J.
Obviously you haven't actually been in love for you to say boo-hoo that he can't get the girl he LOVES!

Oh and calling the action scenes in I, Robot "Fresh" because it was hand to robot fighting, is like calling the driving scenes in The Fast & The Furious "Fresh" because it features cars that you haven't seen before

Spider-Man is the most angst-filled superhero in comics, the whole series is actually about the struggle that Peter Parker has balancing his personal life with his superhero one, and I think the movie captured this perfectly... the guy has been through a lot aside from what the movie shows: lost a girlfriend, got married, had a baby and then lost it, so it's definitely not supposed to be all cheerful...

Fans of the comic book should love what Sam Raimi is doing with this franchise, it's action-packed and also has a human element behind it... the only bad thing I can say about SM2 is that it was way too long, but then again it was necessary to flesh out the story.

I thought it was ok, fun watch, and Molina was a VAST improvement in the villain role, but it was just ok. I said in my review that Hellboy, which just came out on DVD, was far superior.

My big complaint is that the ending locked us into a third installment with the same fucking villain as the first played by a different character-- one who is just plain annoying in his own right.

Jesus!

I dont think so.

It introduced that Harry found his lair, but a number of possibilities can spring from that.

Harry cant just slap on the Goblin suit and go fight, hes not the scientist his father was and he doesnt have the experience with the flight suit that Norman did, it will take him some time to become a super villian from this.

Not to mention that Spiderman is automaticly going to know who he is if he goes out like that.

Im betting Harry DOES become the Green/Hob Goblin but not until the 4th movie.

I don't know about that. For him to become GG 2 in the 4th movie most likely (99.999%) won't happen since 1) The actors only have 3 SM movies in their contrtacts and 2) Sam Raimi won't do the 4th one.
But the "Same villain different character" went through my mind as well, but if Harry becomes the Green Goblin, then there's a huge possibilty that the costume will be modified and will look different.
And maybe, it'll be like in the first Spiderman : The Movie Game.
There was a special cheat that made it possible for players to be The Green Goblin (Glider and all) instead of Spider-Man, but the story was a bit different. You were Harry Osborn as the Green Goblin, not being all evil, but trying to figre out what really happened to his dad.......But that porbably won't happen either, so I'm stumped..

We'll all have to wait and see, I suppose, but I can't think of any other reason to insert that scene other than to set up a Goblin follow up.

Word is that a 4th either won't happen or will be a totally new incarnation, and released at a far distant date. Dunst will not be back for more than one more, she has confirmed this a few times. Frankly Maguire whined so much before the second I wish somebody would replace him. I don't find him charismatic enough to really carry a comic book hero convincingly anyhow.

I can think of a lot of people who would do it better. I also think another actor would be able to inject levity into the film[s] with greater success. I LOVED the little spidey-suit dialogue in the elevator, but it left me wanting more chuckles.

Who would you folks like to see in the suit?

Jake Gyllenhaal (how the hell do you spell that name?) was supposed being talked about to replace Tobey Maguire for the second one for a while, I guess I'd pick him to be a new Spider-Man... he could pull it off...

Id liek to see the 4th take place a few years after the third(in movie years, not real life), it would give more credit and beleivablity to the new actors, giving it a fresh start.

I *do* think that Raimi has something fresh in mind for the third, itll prob be GG, but there is going to be some kind of a twist.

I doubt if Harry will actually don the suit. He'll just battle Spidey without a suit at all.

ALSO, I think he'll 'create' the Lizard, using Oscorps resources, to battle SPidey for him.

ALSO, expect Norman to make a return as well. Trust me, the goblin-glider inpalement does NOT kill him in the comics.

Who would make a good late-20s Peter?

I would like to see someone else as the goblin anyway.

In the comic Hobs stole Normans notes, formula, and gear after finding one of Green Goblins hideouts so its be cool if they went in that direction.

Make it so that the audiance and Spiderman think the new Goblin is Harry throughot the WHOLE movie, but have it turn out to be someone blackmailing him instead, using that knowledge to strongarm Harry into funding and Supplying him.

Have it at the end with Harry saving Peters life or something.

When I read the Spiderman comics as a kid, Hobgoblin was the only villain that actually creeped me out on paper.
I'd love to see him on film but I doubt it'll happen.

Hes bad-ass all right, pity hed look like a glorified power ranger if they put him in the movie.:(

GG was only one color and it made him look really bland, if they do put in Hobs, they gotta at least make it a two-color costume.
