To me Battle Royale 2 was not better than itīs predecessor..i donīt know...the movie was good but for me it was long as hell.
The way of ir turning into a war movie was a little of a down side for me,but it was the logic the killings in the movie had to progress all the way to war..I think part 1 was appealing because they already were at war..with each other...now they take it to the "Private Ryan" war side of it and it lost a lot of itīs first appeal.....Kids in the first one were a little more...Innocent you might say, and this kids show they were ready for war and shooting machine guns and be careful at landmines and stuff only soldiers know how to handle...so it was more into another persons vein than in the main creators idea of the game..the game a lot of people loved..me included and that it ended with a high note on war and peace..that just didnīt fit in as for me...what do you think???
Did you know that the original director died while making part 2 and his son had to step in and finish the film.

I didn't like it that much.

I actually defend Battle Royale II. Although it lost everything that was considered Battle Royale halfway through, I firmly believe that it stands high on it's own. My review. (http://www.joblo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79535)

I love the original Battle Royale. It's extremely high up on my list of favorite foreign flicks, along with Versus.

I have a DVD copy of BR 2 sitting on my shelf but I have yet to watch it. I doubt it'll be as good as the original, but I have high hopes.

Battle Royale 2 ignored everything that made the first movie so much fun. I think the major problem with BR2 is that it takes itself way too seriously, whereas the first film new it was hokey and silly. Plus, BR2 is waayyy tooooo loonnnggggg.
