I enjoy some reality tv shows...Joe Schmo & Fear Factor to be exact.
I know people often bithc about reality tv, and I tried so, so hard not to be one of them, but so help me God I've been broken.....
I'm flipping through the newspaper when I check out the entertainment section and what do I read? A new reality tv show is being made, they didn't say what it would be called but let's take a look at the plot: (Excuse the too-dumb-to-know medical language I'm about to use)

12 men compete to inseminate a woman's egg.

That's the prize...They don't get to have sex with er...Just jack off in to a cup.....That's it...

WHAT THE HELL ARE PEOPLE THINKING?!?!?!
I'm gonna let somone else get the bitching started, 'cause I don't have any valid bitching points yet, but i'll be back.

I think networks are simply running out of ideas and they're getting desperate to put anything out there. The sad part is, there are people who will watch.

I think of reality TV like the hair metal band era. The first groups were pretty enjoying, then came the clones, and the more we had the worse it got, until it blew up and something else came along.

COPS is still the only reality show I like. If I wanted to see a woman's egg being inseminated, I'll watch The Discovery Channel.

Jason, do you think you could give me the phone number and address for where to show up to get on the show? I need the money, and you know...

No, I know that. But you still get paid if you are on TV. You get paid for APPEARING on the show. Why do you think so many people go on Springer? Cuz they get PAID to tell all about their friends.

They're also cheaper to make than your standard dramas and sitcoms.
I don't watch any kind of reality show - unless you count "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (which few people do).

I also think "reality show" is an oxymoron. There's little to no reality in it.

What makes me laugh is that they call "reality" something that has nothing to do with reality.

Indeed. Some need staged reality to remind of the one we are living in, or perhaps of the one some would want to live in.
