I mean...in the 80´s we had:
Tales from the Darkside
Tales from the Crypt
Monsters
The Hitchhiker
The New Twilight Zone
Freddy´s Nightmares
Friday the 13: The series
In the 90´s we had:
Tales from the Crypt
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (Which im not proud but it was horror oriented)
The Outer Limits
Dark Skies
X Files
Goosebumps
Are you afraid if the dark?
In 2000 we have:
The Twilight Zone 2000 (Already Canceled)
Scare Tactics (In the works...some episodes better than others)
and ??????????
Am i missing something here? or is it possible that Television is not an option for Horror series anymore...i mean..think about it.
In the 80´s Tales from the Crypt were Huge and HBO had them all the time with great actors and stuff.....now...where is a cool antology, creepy story based t.v. show like we deserve...is it so hard to do a nice show like this..at least weekly.
There was a show called Mysteries Believe ir or not reveiled....where stories..some horror based some others Sci-fi were shown..they were like 15 min. long and had at the end an explanation and if it was Fact or Fiction..yeah that´s the show...Fact or Fiction.....that show was cool.....but..what else do we have..is there anything cool out there i haven´t seen and im missing...anyone?

There's a program on in the UK at the moment called Kingdom Hospital, which is written by Stephen King and based upon Lars Von Trier's Danish TV series The Kingdom. I saw one episode the other day and it's freaky as fuck, not to mention the fact that there's a talking anteater...

The only horror we have now it stupid ass reality TV. Who cares about some parents swapping families, rich bitches playing with rednecks. I cannot believe tv has stooped to this!!! That's why everyone needs to vote on the horror channel. At least they are wanting to bring back some good ol horror.

In the UK we had Garth Marenghi's Dark Place which was the best low budget horror spoof ever:)

The Sci-Fi Channel airs the reruns of Beyond Belief, Fact or Fiction.
Also, there was a horror series hosted by Henry Rollins in the late 90s-early 2000s called Night Visions.
Kingdom Hospital aired in the us on ABC, but it wasn't well-received by critics and it's not doing well at all.
I think the closest thing we have to a horror series now is USA's The Dead Zone. I definitely think there's room for a horror anthology series, especially on a cable channel like Showtime or FX. Networks just don't seemed to be interested in anything unless it involves idiots trying to win 15 minutes of fame or shows featuring bratty teenagers.

Here in The Great White North, SPACE has their Friday Frightmare movie special that has a horror movie every Friday night. Mostly the movies are a few years old and didn't exactly set the box office on fire, but they're uncensored and have no cut scenes for TV of any kind.

Is there Horror on Television anymore?
Yeah it’s called the six o’clock news, terror induced propaganda on CNN-CNBC, bad sitcoms and reality shows!!!!!
But seriously folks this is a very good topic. Unfortunately television today is abysmal and just plain filled with drek!Horror Films don’t get the kind of respect that they use to, a real tragedy in my book. I am hopeful for this Horror Channel on the horizon, I only hope that it doesn’t fall into the same slump the so-called Sc- Fi Channel has…talk about sad!

You said it, i had always high hope on the Sci-Fi channel but they played more attention to Sci-Fi than horror so much that they totally forgot about the genere..and spawned so many cheesy bad movies that you just don´t have them on your Fav Channel list anymore.
I started the topic because it´s sad how nobody will care (T.v. studios) about making some cool horror anthology series like they used to in the past. Reality T.V took all the cool horror shows from us and the rest is Crime/Drama.
Today i saw an ad that there´s this UNIVERSAL CHANNEL coming our way to Mexican cable t.v. and it´s scheduled to begin it´s transmission in September, The commertial shows that they´re showing Universal Movies like Jurassic Park and Gladiator (Yippiiii what a rush!!!) So i though to myself "Cool...maybe they´ll show some classic Univeral Monsters Horror and fill some time with those movies" but oh no..i was wrong about it...The commertial also shows movies like "Austin Powers" and get this....THE HAVE CRIME DARAMAS like C.S.I and stuff like that...and they show a small brush doing a fingerprint out of the Universal Logo....Cool!!!...They wish!
Nop...it´s not cool.....i hate those Crime/drama series...they´re all these networks are digging and we are not recieving nothin for our horror love....well for me the Universal Channel and Sci-Fi can go suck a fuck for all i care.

Couldnt agree more my friend, Crime Dramas are everywhere, its a barrage of mind numbing insipid cultural dribble, nothing is left to the imagination anymore. I would like to share this little bit of TV History worth mentioning, in the very late 60's & early 70's, I had the fascination of discovering my 1st foray into Mexican Cinema. I fell in love with it!!! The local uhf channel/ WPHL 17, in good old Philadelphia Pa. would broadcast a late night horror show, hosted by the late(Im sorry to say!) Dr. shock! He would show the classic Mexican Vampire films, along with a few italian Vamp films as well. I got to see stuff like, El Vampiro/ the Vampire, Invasion Of The Vampires, World Of The Vampires and the Santo films were cool cheese, My favprite was Santo v.s. the Vampire Women!!! Saturday nights back in the day....aaaahhh...Great flicks, great time...aw, man it was fucking great! By the way...
"How does one suck a fuck?";) Like you didnt see that joke coming!
Don't fret. Visit horrochannel.com
I'm fully convinced it will not fall into the same hole Sci-Fi has (infomercials and "original programming" where MST3K should be). Why? Because THC is allllllll about the fans. Non-stop horror 24/7, uncut, unedited. Don't ask me how, but it seems they have EVERYTHING figured out. Hell, they're even taking suggestions as to what they should show. The most popular suggestions as of now are Freddy's Nightmares, Friday the 13th: The Series, Tales From The Crypt, etc. etc. Who needs a once a week horror series when you have THC? Visit horrorchannel.com and check out the message boards. Uncle Creepy is the man.

The thing about television though is that dead air is, well, death. When no one is talking ratings plummet. (The exception being the critically acclaimed Buffy ep "Hush")
and horror is all about suspense. Suspense means quiet time.
I remember a show called Haunted a while back. I liked it for what it was a Detective that saw ghosts, but television like that is just boring.
Now, whjen a new show comes along thats really well written, and pushes the bounds and limitations of network Tv in every way (Think Nip/tuck) THEN it will last.

hmmm... if someone could come up with a Reality horror tv series the would be stinking rich!
i agree with the original poster though, there is nothing on tv anymore for the horror audience. they need to make a twilight zone show thats more like the oldschool one and come up with new stories instead of rehashing old episodes.

Oh, I had a good idea. A bunch of bachelors come to this huge mansion thinking theyre going to be anotehr "bachelor" type reality show. Then suddenly all the doors lock, and theyre trapped in a seemingly "haunted" house. And arent told what the hell is really going on util they figure it out or the dawn comes.

I was aiming more to the story based show..but this one sounds cool...but it´d be cool to have like Blood Dripping wals and creepy shit going on in a reality show.

There is also that Nightmare reality show with Rob England although I don't have high hopes for it.
But I would agree that there is a drought in horror on television.

Movies that appeared on television in the UK when I was growing up:
HALLOWEEN, HALLOWEEN 3, FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 6 & 8, CHILD'S PLAY, FRIGHT NIGHT, THE LOST BOYS, GREMLINS, CRITTERS etc
It was all pretty mainstream, and for some reason NO NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREETS were ever shown, no OTHER F13's apart from the ones I listed and no OTHER HALLOWEENS.
I remember the first time HALLOWEEN 3 was on. It was late and I was only about 9, so I taped it. When I went to watch it the next day it got cut off half way through because of a power cut that must've occured in the night.
This also happened the very first time I went to watch THE THING!!!!!
Am I cursed?
