There’s some times when you see an actor in a film and you feel he\she was born to play this role. Other times you just can’t imagine –no matter how great the actor is- that this person could play this character by any means. I don’t mean that those I’ll mention below are all worth of Oscars. It’s just that I feel each one of them was just fitting so much for the role. Examples..:
Best casting for a male actor: ED HARRIS for Enemy at the Gates. Because he avoided the cliched performance for the role of a German general. Unbelievably true.
Runners up are:
Hugh Jackman in Swordfish (he rocks..)
James Gandolfini in The Mexican (he made me love a gay-gangester character.. couldn’t happen with any other actor)
Best casting for a female actress: Angelina Jolie for Lara Croft- Tomb Raider. As a fan of the game I can say I was very surpised to see my Lara in flesh and blood. And one of the sexiest charecters in recent year (despite the film’s holes and flaws)
Runners up are:
Tilda Swinston in The Deep End (heartbreaking. One of the best on-screen mothers in years)
Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge (she does everything, and she does it perfectly)
Worst casting of the year for an actor: Nic Cage (Captain Corelli’s Mandoline)
Runner up: Freddie Prinze Jr. (Head over heals and every sh** he does)
Worst casting of the year for an actress: Monica Potter (Along Came a Spider)
Runner up: Jenniffer Lopez (The Wedding Planner).. would you believe that she could stay SINGLE for a single moment?
