Good list but Training Day is easily Denzel's worst performance.

The classic case of the Academy awarding an actor playing against type.

I cant rate his performances, because they are ALL the same.

That's harsh.

Now if we were talking Sidney Poitier ...

Dr Dre gave a better performance even.

Sigur509 you really think so?

I actually think Denzel is one of the most diverse actors working today, he just impresses me with nearly every performance he puts out.

What.... are... you.... talking.... about???

That movie sucked, by the way, but Ethan Hawke WAS AWFUL, while Denzel was merely mediocre.

And he doesn't always act the same, see Man on Fire (which I hated) and the Manchurian Candidate and compare those performances, he isn't the same at ALL. He's totally different in every role.

That's funny, because you are the first person to bring up his race.

Actually...it pretty much is. Nobody mentioned anything that had to do with his race whatsoever. Except you.

Malcom X is his best performance. Other than that I loved his performances in The Hurricane, Training Day, Glory and The Bone Collector. His work in The Manchurian Candidate is also very much noteable. And Man on Fire as well. Man he's a freaking great actor! He ranks along with Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks as one of the most consistantly reliable actors working now!

I don't think he gets the credit he deserves for his work in The Bone Collector because I'm sure that's a pretty challenging role. He has to act completely with his facial expressions in that movie and he could only move his hands. Otherwise he didn't have the freedom of using his body for gestures and body movements and language. A tough role that he pulls off with his usual skill! Sure the movie wasn't great, but his performance most DEFINATELY was!

His 5 best movies:

1. Glory
2. Malcolm X
3. Courage Under Fire
4. Crimson Tide
5. The Hurricane

Without a doubt, The Hurricane will go down as Washington's best performance, even though he definately outshines the film.

I think that Denzel Washington's best performance is without a doubt in Training Day. He seems to have a good time with his over the top performance, and he creates one of the most memorable characters in recent memory in the process. My nod goes to Training Day.
