View Full Version : I Really Hate To Do This...

Ok, the title might seem a little off, but I assure you I will explain.

I hate these sorts of threads, but I really have nothing else to do in terms of solving my 'problem'. It is sort of, no it is a suggestion thread. Now I don't need anything to scare the shit out of me (but I'll take that too), I just want some good horror films, fun, even campy.

I've gotten many out of my 80's thread in Past Horror Movies, and now I am looking for Horror in a more general form.
Examples: Lately I have been watching things like Creepshow, and the 2nd, Tales From The Crypt Presents Demon Knight, Tales From The Darkside: The Movie, Terror Tract, etc. They are not all that scary, but they are for the most part horror. AND I AM LOVING THE ENTERTAINMENT FACTOR FROM THEM.

So all in all, I am looking for an entertaining bunch of horror movies, possibly scary, excluding the biggies like Nightmare, Friday's, Hellraiser's, and the Halloween's.

Thanks in advance, because I know my 80's thread participants have been of great assistance so far this summer! At least 12 hours of entertainment assistance so far.

If youre looking for entertainment, i'd recommend Tremors highly... kinda "not quite horror but still got a few shocks" kinda movie, really funny too.

actually, house 2 rates as one of the funniest "horror" movies i've ever seen (the quotation marks are there for a reason)

You've probably seen most of these if not all of them, but these are the most entertaining (high re-watch) horror movies to me.

An American Werewolf In London

Re-Animator

Evil Dead 2

Return Of The Living Dead

The Thing

Bride Of Chucky

Fright Night

Poltergeist

The Fly (remake)

If you're looking for an 80s movie that's not that scary but entertaining, rent CRITTERS. It's a lot of cheesy fun, and I dig the electronic theme that plays over the closing credits.

SLEEPAWAY CAMP TRILOGY all the way, baby.

The first provides cheesy 80's acting (and one of the best twist endings ever), the second provides plenty of 80's camp cliches (nudity and a high body count) and the third is much the same as the second, with more gore.

250 minutes of joy. :)

There's two new ones that haven't been recommended, I'll track em' down. The Hunger has David Bowie right, this USED to be at my Blockbuster.

Been considering renting it, I guess I will now.

The 1rst House I LOVED on an entertainment level.
I have seen Critters, and the only two on Sponge Bod's I have not seen are Re-Animator (can't track it down around here), and The Fly (remake).
And guys, these suggestions don't NEED to be from the 80's. Thanks for the inout so far, I now have about 5 more to track down, I appreciate it. Keep em' coming.

I actually own the Survivor's Kit. I sort of HATE this series. The 2nd provides some nice entertainment, the 1rst is a HUGE let down (I let people tell me it was great for too long, and therefore was underwhealmed), and the 3rd was pretty okay and quite entertaining.
Series as a whole - 5/10
Separate:
1: 3/10
2: 5/10
3: 4/10

Dude, get all the neccessities: BEER, WEED and MUNCHIES. Get hold of PHANTASM parts 1 through 4. Smoke, drink and eat. Watch them all in a row. By the end, you will be so fucked in the head through lack of rational thinking - you'll probably think you're one of the silver spheres the TALL MAN uses so well.

P.S - I watched PHANTASM for only the second time (the first being when I was about 7) about 6 years ago when I got home from a heavy sesh. It was late, and it mashed my head up so badly, I wrote a poem about it before I went to bed.

I'll see if I can find it actually and post it. Y'all will have a right laugh.

Vamp
Dr. Giggles
Tales From Da Hood
Undead (If you can find it)
The Granny (Really fun and cheesy)
The Burning
Slaughter High
Basket Case
Bad Taste
The Frighteners
Children Of The Corn 3 and Troll 2 are both so terrible, that you have to watch them for the entertainment value.
Demons
Toxic Avenger and Citizen Toxie
The Hitcher
Jacob's Ladder
Near Dark
Bordello Of Blood (Not as good as Demon Knight, but still fun)

Murderous Squad

Just for the record, I did not ask, what movies can I watch because I have pot, beer, and snacks. I asked, what are some fun and/or scary horror movies that will keep my attention. No offense to any schmoes that recommended that... I'll take the snacks though.

So far guys, I have gotten close to 20 films to check out. And yesterday I checked out Bordello Of Blood, and Phenomena. Not as bug-ridden as expected, but still gross, and I give both of them a 5/10. They were average, but kept my attention quite well.

And is it just me or does Dario Argento look like a cannibal?

This Vamp, I can't find anywhere, is it worth going out of my way to get?

I'd say so, and you wouldn't have to go out of your way. Check THIS (http://half.ebay.com/cat/buy/prod.cgi?cpid=1965942&domain_id=1877&meta_id=3) out.

I think you should go out of your way to get it off of that link. It's a really really fun movie with Grace Jones as a vampire stripper in a strip joint. It's basically the predecesor to movies like Bordello Of Blood and From Dusk Till Dawn. It's funny and gory as well. Just a great entertaining movie.

I'm telling you 'nut...watch Redneck Zombies. It will crack your ass up! I suppose you already have a crack in your ass, but if not watch this film so you will soon have one. Thats weird, how do you go to the bathroom and shit with no crack.
