Lost World vs JP3

Receiving my JP3 dvd the other day prompted a discussion between my "friend" and myself about the better sequel.He sais(although he hadnt seen it for a good while) that LW was better,his main argument stems from the fact that SS directed it.However his main points were that it has more grander feel to it, there are better moments of suspense and the master of these films directed it.Now i agree that it does have a grander feel but that is also its downfall because the actual content of the film cant live up to its feel.The original had it all, we were in awe at it and excited by it.But LW doesnt win on this,SS tried to hard to structure it like the first film 1.jumpy opening 2.story set-up 3.massive set piece at halfway stage 4.build up to climax, and then for perhaps the most ill-advised segment of any film ever:San Diego rampage.This is where i believe JP3 was better, it didnt waste time saying look how marvelous this scenery is, it didnt give any rights or wrongs of the polotics of dna research/animal cruelty etc.JP3 simply gave us exciting almost non-stop action and excitementDont misunderstand me, i liked most of LW but i remember leaving the cinema without any kind of buzz, JP3 gave me that buzz so therefore on a purely entertainment level (the basic reason for watching a movie) this one is a better film.On a final note my friends argument fell apart when he said that jokes like Tea Leoni in JP3 shouting words to the effect of "why should i stop shouting" down a megaphone are signs of a bad film.I pointed out to him that when he does watch LW again he should see if the sight of a man beckoning a baby t-rex with noises and a silly voice you would use with the family dog is any more amusing....'nuff said.

I thought JP3 was the stupidest movie I have ever seen. It's plot was dumb and when you thought it was gonna keep going it was over. It sucked, but thats my opinion.

JP3 was really crappy. You're right Macdadius.it did suck. The Lost World is way better.

I respect your opinion, fuzzy, but it seems to me you didn't like The Lost World as much as Jurassic Park III because LW tried to be as intelligent and impressive as the superior Jurassic Park and failed, whereas JP3 didn't try to be anything but a brainless movie about people running from dinosaurs and suceeded. I didn't feel the same way. Even if LW wasn't as grand as the first one, it tried and it was still a good movie was produced. JP3 was made for money.

There are other problems with JP3, too. I thought the talking raptors were quite lame, the FX weren't anything we haven't seen before, and I don't care how bad you say the end of LW was, the end of JP3 was FAR worse. It was a pretty good popcorn movie, but not as good as LW, and certainly not as good as the first one.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park (7/10) is way better than Jurassic Park 3 (5/10). But neither of them come close to Jurassic Park (10/10).

The original Jurassic Park was my favorite movie for many a year,...until I read the book, about 3 years after seeing the film. I was pissed. My thoughts turned from, "wow, this movie is perfect" to "you asshole! what the fuck were you thinking!?! you could have made THIS, but instead you made that piece of shit!" My thoughts have changed again, and while I dont think the film is perfect, I still love it dearly, because it is the film that got me interested in films. Jurassic Park (7/10) The Lost World was another case of this, but I had read the book before the movie had come out, so I was prepared to be letdown, as I often am when I have read a book and seen the movie it is based on (Harry Potter, It, The Stand, anything horror by Stephen King really) but I ended up actually liking the film, for, if nothing else, the fact that it was a sequal to Juraais Park, and it had alot of kick-ass dinosaurs. Jurassic Park 3, I was looking forward to, but not really. Saw it. Left the theater. And that was the end of it. Nothing special, except the 3 second T-Rex-Spinosaur fight. So, in the end, The Lost World Wwins, but Jurassic Park kicks its ass.

I loved JP which is where my problem is. I really wanted TLW to be something amazing and it really wasn't, it was good, I enjoyed it but I was young and disappointed. Which is why when JP3 was ready for release I didn't expect much, I knew I would go to the cinema and see it because of the franchise history and I love dinosaurs but I didn't expect much. This is why I prefer JP3 to TLW....EXPECTATION!!

I prefer The Lost World over JP3 even though I hate both movies. However, I remember the scene with the T-Rex in TLW and that was just a great exercise in suspense. They were in the big trailer and were slowly being pushed off a cliff. I was on the edge of my seat. For that one notable scene I prefer TLW. But really, they both suck, and I don't know why everyone rushes to see these dinosaur sequels, they're nothing special. The original is by far the best, but even that gets a little tired after you watch it a few times.

I'm going to go against the current and suggest that JP3 is the better film. You knew what you were getting with JP3, Popcorn Crap and what great crap at that. The Lost World tried to hard as said above, and just didn't cut the cheese. Actuaaly the one thing that killed the Lost World for me was how they expected us to swallow that the T Rex had eaten all the people on the ship while it was stored in the strong hold. Pathetically lazy.

I hate to think whats going to happen to me after I post this but I thought that JP3 was GREAT. It was wonderful at what it did. I think All Johnston wanted to do was make a movie that people would go to see and think that it was just plain and simple fun. Lke the rest of his films (Barr October Sky). I think its stupid when people go to a movie and come out thinking that it is shit because there is no storyline. A movie can be good without a storyline. JP3 is a nice thrill ride and thats it. And thats all Joe Johnston wanted to make. The others are

I think Jurrasic Park was a GOOD movie. It had brilliant effects, but still the plot wasn't too Brilliant. And the acting was based on mumbling, many of the lines are mumbled... In Lost World, the plot is just about the same thing, with the excpetion: Lost World is kind of SCARY, it has much more "hardcore" Dino scenes, still it is not superior... But it is special! JP3 is really an average crappy stupid silly awful marketing movie! Nothing is worse than a movie made for only money purposes! It sucks BIG BIG BIIIG TIME!! It is nothing new, except for some dino's...
