This is for August 6th-8th.

Spider-Man 2 is still leading overseas. The $200 million film has finally started in China, grossing a stunning $1,504,978 in 254 theaters, not including the $1,343,364 it made in previews. Here in the US and Canada, it made $5,431,777 on 2,564 screens. It has also had strong holds in France and Japan. Over the weekend, it has made $12,039,899 overseas and $17,471,676 worldwide. The overall tally so far is $328,829,242 internationally and $683,398,102 worldwide.

Shrek 2 estimated weekend gross internationally is $7.5 million. The movie has grossed over $1 million this weekend in four worldwide markets (and maybe more): Japan ($1,373,833 with a $11,559,449 gross-to-date), France ($1,245,640 with a $45,982,224 GTD), and the United Kingdom ($1,163,274 with an $80,582,088 GTD), Spain ($1,051,855 with a $30,026,448 GTD). In the US/Canada, the movie was at #17 this weekend and made $893,869 in 812 theaters, with a gigantic GTD of $434,404,842. It might not seem like much now, but it will definitely get a last-minute boost for Labor Day weekend and could push past $440 million. Though it has passed Finding Nemo in the US/Canada, the former champion of the Animation Box Office Crown, it's going to be very difficult to steal Nemo's worldwide crown, and impossible to steal it's international crown, as it still needs about $55 million to go worldwide, the international holdovers are winding down, and the only markets left are Norway, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Turkey. And it is over $150 million away from Nemo's worldwide number. Still, it cannot be denied that Shrek 2 has done amazing business, especially here. The movie did an projected $8,393,869 worldwide this weekend, has an international estimated GTD of $375,000,000, and worldwide is a projected $809,404,842.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban opened up in Finland. It made $953,000 this week, $455,000 of which were previews. It is also the #1 movie in Japan still, The movie raked in $728,248 in the US/Canada this weekend, ranked #19, in 409 theaters. It's GTD stands at $245,332,214, and might close in on $250 million if Warner Bros. pushes it on Labor Day weekend. The movie raked in an estimated $5,500,000 internationally, and projected $6,228,248 worldwide. Internationally, it has made $491 million, and worldwide $736,332,214.

Oh, and in the Commonwealth of Independent states (which consists of all the former Soviet republics, excluding the Baltic states of Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia), ìÍÂÌÍÈ äÍÃÍÏ (or Night Watch as it is called in the US), a Russian fantasy-thriller, has become the new #1 movie of all time in just four weeks, trampling The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. This market is rapidly growing into what will be in a few years a really major movie market. Titanic is already barely in the Top 20...

More will be added later tonight when the numbers on my sources are complete.
