It would seem suitable to assume, that in a movie-related sites as this one the name of Peter Gabriel should be quite familiar with the ones listening a bit further into the realms of soundtracks. However, either because of my poor sight or the real lack of discussion about the artist, I invite everyone to share thoughts concerning the one, whose collaboration with the ones like Youssou N'Dour, Baaba Maal and Nusfrat Fateh Ali Khan not only brought these artists to the knowledge of the Western world in the end of 1980s and in the early 1990s, but also ignited a different kind of career for Gabriel himself, who later on has become a significant figure in the field of World Music through his Real World record label, bringing forth familiar sounds combined with ethnic rhythms and everything from between.
I myself became aware of Gabriel with Scorsese's The Last Temptation of the Christ and Noyce's Long Walk Home, and naturally, have purchased all of his albums.
For all of those interested, this thread could become a useful source of information, experience and friendship, as it would be nice to see if there is any other people around JoBlo.com who have an acquired taste for Gabriel or World Music, in general.
