"No bond, no script, no director" was one quote I read over the weekend. Mr Bourne seems to be growing in strength as well...
what future do you see for the Bond franchise now?

After the excesses of Moonraker Cubby Broccoli wisely reined in the franchise with For Your Eyes Only.
A similar approach is needed now after the ludicrous Die Another Day.
Maybe Barbara Broccoli should take up Quentin Tarantino's offer to make Casino Royale.
That should give 007 a much needed injection of cool.
Zing!

I think everything we're reading now about Eon, Brosnan, and the troubled future of Bond 21 is simply spin by Eon and Brosnan to keep Bond's name in the press. Let's face it - it's going to be another year before Bond is back on the big screen. Eon hasn't had an opportunity to create buzz and stir up controversey regarding a new Bond since Timothy Dalton left the role. And even THAT wasn't a lot of buzz since everyone pretty much knew already that Brosnan had a lock on the job.
This is an opportunity that Eon can't pass up - tell Pierce to go out and make a lot of vague statements regarding the next picture - but nothing too concrete or harsh. Notice he's not saying he's out for sure, and neither is Eon. When in reality (at least in my mind anyway) they both know Brosnan will be back for "one more go-round as 007." They will announce that 'Casino Royale' will be Brosnan's farewell to the series - hence drumming up even more ticket sales as well as speculation over his replacement in 2007.
If Eon/Broccoli/Wilson had any sense at all - which one has to wonder after seeing where they have taken the series - particularly with the dreadful 'Die Another Day,' they would listen to the fans and determine what they want to see. I would bet the consensus would be a smaller, more reigned in Bond film in which story and character takes precedent over bombs, boobs, and things blowed up real good.
Naturally, I would want Tarantino to direct Brosnan in a semi-faithful adaption of Casino Royale. You could still have the spectacular opening sequence (and as 'Goldfinger' showed us, it doesn't necessarily have to tie into the plot), you could still have the martinis 'shaken, not sitrred,' you could still have Pierce introducing himself as 'Bond... James Bond,' you could still have the gadgets, the Astin Martin, Q-Branch, M, Moneypenny, the gambling in a tuxedo, all the things that make a great Bond movie - while still staying true and faithful to Ian Fleming's original story.
Do I want it to happen that way? Yes.
Do I think it will happen that way? No.

I'm still somewhat nervous- the lack of traffic to this part of the site sort of reflects that...Maybe its just the lack of any real news, or maybe Bond really has passed the sell-by date.
I think we need news and we need it fast. Preferably of the kind which doesn't involve orlando friggin bloom.
Of course, the lack of traffic could just be down to be me being a shitty mod that everyone secretly detests ;)

Compared to the sluggish traffic on The Matrix forum this is the information super highway at rush hour.
As soon as EON release some definite news about Bond 21 I'd imagine this site will hot up like the Batman forum.
