ALICIA KEYS' SONG LEAVES MAN WITH ENDLESS PHONE CALLS
Alicia Keys' new hit track "Diary" has proved to be the source of many problems for a Georgia man -- because the R&B beauty inadvertently gives out his number in the song.
Statesboro resident JD Turner had the unfortunate luck of having the same phone number that Keys references in the love song and now he's constantly bombarded with calls from fans hoping to hear Keys' voice at the other end of the line.
Turner says, "I get 20 to 25 calls a day. Sometimes at 4:30 am, and they say, 'I want to talk to Alicia Keys.'"
In the song, Keys sings, "Oooo baby, if there's anything that you fear/ Come forth and call 489-4608 and I'll be here."
The number used to be Keys' from when she lived in New York, says her publicist, Lois Najarian. The New York number, with a 347 area code, is still active and fans can reach a recorded message. But many people keep calling Turner's number, which has a totally different area code.
Turner, a retired pastor, adds, "I don't want to change my number. I've had the same number for 14 years."
Turner now has caller ID, but that doesn't stop calls from coming in.
