The Killers - Hot Fuss

I've been listening to Hot Fuss, the debut album by Las Vegas band The Killers, for a couple of months now. I'm still about 50/50 on it. The good songs are among the best i've heard this year (All The Things That I Have Done is one of greatest and most uplifting songs i've ever heard). But the album is about 30% genius, 30% pretty damn good, 30% below average and 10% bloody awful with the proceedings reaching it's nadir with Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll (I wince every time they hit the chorus...really embarassing stuff). Anyone else got an opinion on these guys? I think they have potential but haven't quite realised it yet. Fingers crossed they get the settings on the quality dial right for their second album. I feel they have a masterpiece in them. Hot Fuss just ain't quite it.

They were a total surprise when I saw them open up for the yeah yeah yeahs. It was a week before their cd debuted and I hadn't a clue as to who they were. I was blown away by their performance which was an energetic live wire of rock n roll goodness but I was a little disappointed with their cd when I picked it up. Another band which I discovered at that show named stellerstar was a million times better when it came to their recorded work. I think you would like them Psychocandy.

I love Stellastar. Their debut is one of the most infectious collections of rock/pop songs i've heard in a long time. Really excellent stuff.

i did not think this year could get much better music wise some great albums from the likes of snow patrol,keane,morrissey,up coming embrace return and now this,it just kicked me in the balls from the first listen the opening track jenny was a friend of mine pulls you in and the rest just won't let you go,all the things ive done is one of the best song's of the last 5 years never mind this one,mr brightside and somebody told me are really good solid track's,ok i give you that indie rock and roll is a low point but it's very rare you get an album full of perfection but this one is a damn good try for me.
