Well, here is one of JAMES'S REVIEWS. Wooo. =P

Well, I work at a camp, and at camps you hear a wide variety of music. I came across the album Good People Who Love Bad News by Modest Mouse when I was washing dishes after a meal. I was unaware of this band, so I tuned my ears into the music.

It started off with a crazy harsh brass band playing for ten seconds. Interesting. Veeerry interesting. Then it turns to track two, known as The World at Large. This is a delerious little ditty, with violin, and interesting singing, both background and lead. Catchy. Im hooked so far, im not even paying attention to the dishes anymore. Food poisoning doesn't scare me. :P

Anyways, this band is crazy. The songs include alot of pretty guitar tunes, interesting synthisizers, and crazy brass tunes. An interesting mix, all around, I say.

Anywho, now I am addicted to this album. I love it, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to expand their horizon to good music.

Personal favorate tracks:

The World at Large (2)
Float On (3)
Ocean Breathes Salty (4)
Bukowski (8)
The View (10)

You can listen to small samples of this band HERE (http://ubl.artistdirect.com/store/artist/album/0,,2871149,00.html)

And you can listen to the full song of Float On ON THIS WEBSITE (http://ubl.artistdirect.com/music/artist/card/0,,568257,00.html?src=redirsearch&artist=Modest+Mouse)

OVERALL RATING: 9/10

Final Thought: This is a generally very good listen, with alot of replay value. It has its flaws, but what CD doesn't? I would highly recommend this CD.

You know whats strange?

Going to a beach night club and all of a sudden hearing modest mouse be played right after a Notrious B.I.G. song and right before a Juvenile song. Completely surreal.

Awesome album. They have been putting out great records for years now, but for whatever reason people are starting to notice.

Unfortunately I saw them twice in concert this summer and I was dissapointed with both shows (especially since the setlists were nearly identical). Neither show measured up to the times I have seen them before.

A story if you dont mind......The first time I ever heard Modest Mouse on the radio, I was playing in a poker tournament. I was so excited to hear one of my favorite bands on the radio that I decided it was a sign and I made a big raise holding only marginal cards. Nothing showed up on the flop, turn or river and I ended up losing a good portion of my chips. Nice!
