This has to be the most important question in rock. Who is the better quitarist? Jimi is famous for how he played his quitar. Holding upside down and backwards, played behind his back and with his teeth.
But Page is famous for the amazing sound he blasted out. I have yet to meet a person who is fan of Led Zeppelin who hasnt agreed with me that almost every Zeppelin song is idetifiable by its guitar riff.
Kashmir
Trampled under foot
Dancing Days
When the Leevee Breaks
Stairway to Heven
Communication Breakdown
Immigrant Song
The Ocean
Rock N' Roll
Black Dog
Dy'er My'ker
Misty Mountain Hope
Bron Y Stomp
In My Time of Dying
Celebration Day
I could go on and on.
Who do you like more or think is better. Im Page all the way.

I'm not much of a fan of either one, but I'll go with Page.

It is hard to compare the two for a few reasons. First: Jimi's life ended pre-maturely so we can never know how far he would have gone. Second: They have two very different styles of play. Hendrix was very raw but had unbelievable feel. Page on the other hand was very technical, not just in his style of music, but in his arrangement of songs (think Kashmir). Finnally: Page was always surrounded by great musicians (until maybe Zeppelin broke up), while Jimi's band was good, they were no where near the calibur of John Paul Jones and John Bonham.
This is a tough question and I really dont think you can answer it easily. Overall musical ability: Page. Raw feel, emotion, and making his guitar "talk": Hendrix.

Hendrix all the way although props go to Page. HEndrix was just so innovative, leaps and bounds ahead of his time. It's a shame we lost him so young. He is rock n roll.....and maybe blues. He's just the man.
Jimmy...although Jimi is great, too.

Ah hell. It's too damn close to pick.
It depends on who I'm listening to at that given time. Could be Page, could be Hendrix. They're both bona fide guitar Gods though *Winner For Most Obvious Statement Of The Year*.

I can't really pick one over the other because to me they're like apples and oranges. Two different styles, but I really dig both of them.

Jimi is one of the top 5 greatest guitarists of all-time, IMO...but...
PAGE IS, WITHOUT A DOUBT, IMO, THE GREATEST GUITARIST....EVER.
He played with such energy, such force. The stuff this guy did still blows me away. His riffs, his writing, everything. I could write an essay on this guy...but won't. :p IMO, no one comes remotely close to him...not even Jimi.

Same here man. Page is a genius to me. Hey I give a hell of a lot a props to Hendrix. I love Hendrix. But Page has this way about him that sends chills down my spine.
I can get carried away with music. Led Zeppelin and Pink Flyod are my two favorite bands. When I listen to Zep and Plant is singing and page is playing, Im in a world of my own.
Zeppelin justs amazes me everytime i here there music.

Tough.
I love Jimmy just as much as the next guy...but...
As far as pure "guitar - playing - ability" goes...it's gotta be Hendrix. I've tried to learn what I thought were some easy songs on guitar from this guy...and I just can't keep up. He's all over the place, but it doesn't sound that way. He just made it effortless.
Notwithstanding, Jimmy Page is an amazing guitarist, and I'd probably have to sit the fence on this one. But if I were forced to choose, I'd pick Hendrix as the better guitarist by a hair, and Page the better musician by a mile.
It's just too close. I love both, though.

I think they are both equally amazing guitarists who have a style that cannot be beaten.

I'd take either one.....But Page over Jimi......Totally different.......Page tho had the ability to play ANY style, and Jimi on the other hand seemed like he only had his style..Page could do what Hendrix did, but Hendrix couldn't do what Jimmy did...

Hendrix led the way to heavy metal blues mixed with psychodelia and jazz fusion, added to that an unbelieveable amount of talent and an uncanny ability to do things with a guitar that were never before thought possible.
Page brought a lot of awesome rock and roll riffs, searing chops and creative compositions with unusual tunings, and his influence of several different kinds of musical tastes as well as the years of playing for dozens if not hundreds of different musicians really gave him a sound of his own.
I think without Hendrix, electric guitar music would be NOTHING like it is now. Without Page, music would be a lot different. However, I believe that Hendrix managed to cause more people to use guitar in different ways that effectively brought about several new styles of playing, including but not limited to the modern day virtuosos.
I know Page used interesting methods for guitar musicianship - his most widely known being the bow - but honestly I don't think that worked too well. A neat gimmick, not much else. On the other hand he's done other things that are more subtle and even more amazing that I'd say the general public wouldn't care about.
I like Page's music a lot more than Hendrix, but Hendrix blows my mind when I figure out how he did his licks, his ability to play lead and rhythm while singing... it's like OMG where the hell did this guy come from?
I'd rather listen to Page over Hendrix most of the time, though. So, I personally choose Page over Hendrix, but I can't deny Hendrix's influence and sheer talent.
When all is said and done, though, I think there are a lot of other musicians that helped influence THESE GUYS, and without a large supply of other classic guitarists and musicians we'd never have Hendrix. So in the end, I don't know how important of a question this is, but I will say that without these two guys, certainly rock would be in a very different place right now.

There are many songs that Led Zeppelin has done, and they failed to make mention of the fact that it wasn't originally written by them.
The only ones I can think of at the moment are THE LEMON SONG, which was KILLING FLOOR originally done by Willie Dixon (? - I forget for sure). They got sued for not mentioning that fact beforehand.
Plus, many of their blues songs aren't original, a lot are Willie Dixon and other old-time blues masters.
Over the years, they've been sued for plagiarizing. In fact, 6 years or so ago, a woman was listening to one of the songs that she wrote many years before that her son was listening to. She said, "Where'd you get that from? I wrote this song."
Her son replied, "It's Led Zeppelin. It's called Babe I'm Gonna Leave You."
She used to perform that song all the time when she was in a folk band back in the 60's.
She sued, and won an undisclosed amount of money for it.
There are a number of cases similar to this that Zeppelin has had to deal with over the years.
But I don't care much... they are still awesome songs.
But then again, if someone doesn't like Page because he copied so many songs, what about Hendrix? Almost all his most famous songs are not originally his. But I digress...

It say in Hammer of the Gods that the band used a lot of old blues and jazz songs. Thats what made them great. Their ability to make a song there own like no one else could.

Gotta be Page. The whole band is like an All-Star team.

I could really go back and forth here. I prefer Zeppelin's music to Hendrix's, but they were both amazing.
On the one hand, Page was amazing, he did the "guitar army" thing, using overdubs, I believe, and that was a big deal at the time. Plus, he did Over the Hills and Far Away, which has to be, to me, the most beautiful guitar playing ever.
But, at the same time, as anyone who's tried to play guitar knows, Page's intros and riffs were fairly easy. It's the solos that are fucking insane. Hendrix, pretty much the whole song was insane, and the fact that he was singing while playing makes it that much harder to do.
So, I guess, as far as which I like better, I'd go with Page, but as far as more talented, Hendrix.

Hendrix is in my opinion a superior guitarist by far. Jimmy Page, however wrote better music. So really, I couldn't say which I like more.
