Alright, as you can see, I'm a very big Stones fan, but it seems like they are too overlooked by The Beatles. I mean sure, that's expected, but I mean very overlooked by them. Don't get me wrong, I love The Beatles as well, but don't think the Stones get enough praise. While The Beatles seem like they influenced music in a very general way, I feel the Stones influenced blues play in a great way.
When I discuss musical tastes at school, most say "oh yeah, I love The Beatles" or they mention Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Clapton, Hendrix, or among others. I rarely ever hear anyone talking about how great the Rolling Stones are. I don't know if it's simply the fact that they haven't heard much from them, or they simply don't like them. I normally wouldn't care about another's opinion, but it sort of upsets me.
Sure, I may just be bitter, but damn, the Rolling Stones are great! I absolutely love to jam to them. Sympathy For the Devil is one of the smoothest songs ever. Definitely one of my favorite bands.
Anyone else share my love?

I aswell love the Stones and have noticed they seem to get overlooked during music conversation. Everyone loves the Beetles, and rightly so, but I have always preferred their sound over the Beatles' as it was edgier and looser. I heard a saying once that was to the effect of "The Rolling Stones did what the Beatles did, just a few months too late." Too bad, since I think that's how a lot of people regard them.

I think The Stones get more than enough love.
And yes, Sympathy for the Devil is a perfect song.

I hold The Rolling Stones in much higher regard than The Beatles. They had a run of six or seven albums that were mostly immaculate. Unfortunately they didn't split at that point and while I can understand (just about) their popularity in the live arena to this day I don't think they have released anything completely worthwhile since the early to mid-seventies. The odd song is good but even at their best they fail to come close to the quality of songs like Sympathy For The Devil, No Expectations and Paint It Black.

I've always been more of a Beatles fan, but the series of albums from Beggars Banquet to Exile On Main St is pretty damn good by any standard. Funnily enough, I've always thought the the 2 albums surrounding the 'classic' four (Her Satanic Majesties Request and Goats Head Soup ) are the bands most under-rated albums. And I think I'm the only person who thinks that Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers are much better albums than Exile On Main St.

Yeah, nobody in my school (that I know of) seems to be a huge Stones fan other than me. In fact, I'd bring in burnt Stones cds and people would say "Turn that shit off!"...but it could have been because I brought the same 4 cds in every few weeks, I don't know. In my opinion, the Stones are the greatest band ever. Better than The Beatles, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc. etc. I wish people would get more into their lesser known stuff (people always talk about Paint It Black and Sympathy For The Devil...great songs, though), like Hang Fire and Stealing My Heart. They've done some of the best covers, too. The best example being "Aint' Too Proud To Beg". They also do a great cover of Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone" and Dobie Gray's "Drift Away".
And their albums...no band has had so many great albums. Sticky Fingers, Exile On Main Street, Goats Head Soup, etc. etc.

I don't think the Rolling Stones are underrated at all. I think the majority of people appericate there contributions. Personally there nowhere my favorites list but you can't take away from some of the things they've done.
