Smartest...I dunno.

Best: Toto from The Wizard of Oz (9/10)

The big ol' pup on skates from THE TRUTH ABOUT CATS AND DOGS. He's got the whole XANADU influence goin' down!

Oh yeah, Lassie is the smartest. How could I forget Lassie?

Gotta love Old Yeller, too.

Lassie of course...

**Lassie Barks**

Ma:
What's that Lassie? Timmy's fallen in the well? Oh, but you've already called the fire department. And the Dow Jones is up? Uh-huh, I'm sure it would be a worthwhile investment. Good dog.

How on earth could I forget Old Yeller. It was the first REAL book I ever read. They could not have cast a more perfect dog for the movie. Good one Colin.

Cujo is by far the best & smartest dog, he learned how to treat humans how they treat each other,no?!

Then there is definitely now also a very special select group of dogs who are what I refer to as the "canine Baldwins".
They are: Milo (from 'The Mask')- Alec
Scrappy from Scooby-doo- Steven
Toto (from Wizard of Oz)- William
Beethoven (from 'Beethoven')-Daniel

Just watched Mask for the first time last night and I remembered this post. Oh my gosh that dog, Milo, was great.

The German Shepard in Eric Reid's BAD MOON is intelligent and loyal.

Several scenes display his problem solving ability plus he is the one thing standing between the family and a werewolf.

Underrated movie and easily the best and smartest K9 in film.
