Shoulda known...

Ah well, I won't be double dipping, despite this being one of the greatest films ever. I'm just happy I own a copy of the DVD right now. But, for those buying it, let's hope the commentaries are good, and none of that select scene jazz.

Sure, I'll double dip it. I only paid twenty bucks for the MGM bare bones and it was brand new. Raging Bull is in my top twenty.

Of all places, I found my copy at an unfinished mall in Dallas in the corner sandwiched between "Mother, Jugs, & Speed" and "Clean Slate".

there been endless rumors about a casino double disk, but nothing ever is confirmed.

I'm so jacked about both the new Raging Bull and another box set... the more scorsese the better!

Is Casino Scorsese's only Universal production?

In short, Scorsese has worked with Universal not once, not twice, but thrice. But since Im bored, let's examine Scorsese's filmography as owned by the studios:

Who's That Knocking at My Door?- Warner
Boxcar Bertha- U/A (MGM)
Mean Streets- Warner
Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore- Warner
Taxi Driver- Columbia
New York, New York- U/A (MGM)
The Last Waltz- U/A (MGM)
Raging Bull- U/A (MGM)
King of Comedy- 20th Century Fox
After Hours- Warner
Color of Money- Touchstone (Disney)
The Last Temptation of Christ- Universal
Goodfellas- Warner
Cape Fear- Universal
Age of Innocence- Columbia
Casino- Universal
Kundun- Touchstone (Disney)
Bringing out the Dead- Paramount
My Voyage to Italy- Miramax (Disney)
Gangs of New York- Miramax (Disney)

So:
Warner owns 5 of Scorsese's films; Alice Doesnt Live Here Anymore, After Hours, Goodfellas, Mean Streets and Who's That Knocking at My Door

Disney (Touchstone/Miramax) owns 4 Scorsese films; My Voyage to Italy, Kundun, Gangs of New York and Color of Money.

UA/MGM also owns 4 Scorsese films; New York, New York, Raging Bull, Boxcar Bertha and the Last Waltz.

Universal owns 3 Scorsese pictures; Last Temptation of Christ, Cape Fear and Casino.

Columbia owns 2 of his films, with Age of Innocence and Taxi Driver

And lastly, Fox and Paramount own 1 apiece with King of Comedy and Bringing out the Dead respectivly.

Scorsese does play around a lot, and has worked with every major studio. Good for him!

Damn it, I blind bought this movie about a month ago because Netflix didn't have it (why not, I have no idea...) and I'd been dying to see it. This seems to be happening a lot to me lately, I bought Dr. Strangelove, one of my favorite movies, a few months ago and all of a sudden BAM! special 2-disc edition coming out in November or December, can't remember which. It bugs me so much when I end up owning a stripped-down version of a movie when all of a sudden a big special edition comes out, this has also happened with Gone With The Wind and Life Of Brian.

First time I rented Raging Bull I watched it THREE times in a row.

The only reason it doesn't make my Top 10 Favorites list is because I accidentally made myself sick of it, what with all that repeated viewing.

I'm thinking I want to buy the DVD thing, but I wonder if I'll ever watch it. I mean, I still remember the movie real well. I'd pretty much be paying for the special features.

What say you, folks? Worth it at least for that?

Definitely some of the best news I've heard in a long time.

I haven't been able to find the DVD anywhere, I just keep taking it home from work every weekend or so to watch it.

One of the my favorite movies of all time, and now I will finally own it. Woo!

He's right, cheif, and I hate to say it.

Watch out on the same day for an MGM Scorsese collection including Raging Bull, "New York, New York", The Last Waltz, and Boxcar Bertha.
