Does anyone know if a second edition of "The Passion Of The Christ" is coming out in the future? I heard the version that came out today (Aug. 31st) is pretty bare-bones. I'm just curious.
Thanks ahead of time.

Don't know the official word, but I'd pretty much bank on a 2-Disk SE by X-Mess... but that's just me thinking out loud.

There are some rumors that Gibson might be releasing a SE by the end of the year and I already bought the regular one so I might not get the special edition.

I usually will only buy a special edition dvd only for a audio commentary and unrated scenes, I dont think this movie needs any unrated scenes and i dont think i wanna sit there and listen to Mel Gibson talk about jesus for an hour or two, thatd be like going to church.

Gibson's intention might have been to release the film by itself, seeing as it is less an entertainment product than most every movie out there. In this case, he might follow Spielberg's Schindler's List DVD which didn't have any special features on the production on the film.
It would be kinda wrong to have SFX features on what kind of corn syrup they used for Christ blood, or a CGI feature going into detail on how they made the raindrop p.o.v. shot. In my opinion, studios should save that stuff for less serious blockbuster films.
If there would be a special edition it would be logical to come out around Easter this year or next. It would be interesting to hear a commentary from pastors/historians.

LMAO could u imagine an unrated version of this...we get to see...more of poor Jim Caviezel getting beat shitless to a bloody pulp...yeah!
Mel Gibson is one sadistic son of a bitch.
But the movie was well-made.

yep i could see it, reminds me of the torture scene in lethal weapon.
Also if they did do a commentary it would end up offending some religious group like the movie did when it first came out.

If there is more money to be made , i can bet that some " deleted " scenes will pop up somewhere and a SE will come out with a statue of some kind depicting the crucifixion .

I'm not gonna buy the dvd, cuz I rented it and it's just the movie and a SE might come out. But if it's OFFICIALY not coming out, then I'll buy the dvd....

They could have easily released the SE now , but they know they can sucker more people into buying both . I'm thinking maybe another super deluxe version will show up around Christmas time with deleted scenes , more character development , that nail pendant , and a making of featurette .
