This line is the only thing that bothered me in this great movie.
Why would a terminator say something like that ? A Terminator would want a vacation ?? I don't think he was programmed to make any wisecracks. I understand why he said 'hasta la vista' , because his CPU was switched so he could learn stuff and John Connor learns him to be more human. But how could a machine understand the "humor" concept ? Because the same line was used in 'Kindergarden Cop' doesn't make it cool to use it in a terminatormovie.

Well, it's not unusual that it sticks out. According to the commentary by James Cameron on the T2: EE, Arnold improvised that line.

Ah come on my friends, it was just a bit of humour.

The film's about a robot getting sent back through time, and you're moaning about a single line being unrealistic? :D

I acually have to agree, that line has always bothered me, but it doesn't matter the movie is still gold.

Have none of you thought that the line could be Terminator speak for taking a dump?

He has some of the best one-liners in the history of film, I figure you should let him get away with one odd one

Actually, it was a line in the prose of the script, but those two wacky fellows thought it would be funny to have Arnold say it.

They were just having a spot of fun. Jolly good.

It's a good line. A good improvisation. He could've picked it up sometime during his visit. Arnold is the man.
