Actress Demi Moore has advised her younger lover Ashton Kutcher to turn down an offer to star in the "Basic Instinct" sequel.

The "Punk'd" host, 26, had been touted as the ideal actor to succeed Michael Douglas as the love interest of Sharon Stone's character Catherine Tramell, 13 years after the original 1992 blockbuster.

But 41-year-old Moore has told Kutcher accepting the role would damage his career, according to Britain's Daily Star newspaper.

A source says, "Demi's warned him it's rare for a sequel to work so long after the original."

The famous interrogation scene in Basic Instinct had taught me how to use the reverse button and freeze frame. But back then , Sharon Stone was 34 years old. Now she's like 46 years old.
I would probably use the fast forward button. This sequel is a bad idea.

That's funny, Demi Moore giving someone else advice on how to manage their movie career...the two of them should stay together forever in an acting career I like to think of as: FINISHED.

Hasn't Basic Instinct already got about 3, 247 sequels currently on the video shelves? It's the same reason Anacondas is struggling to reach even half of what the original made at the box office - there are already half a million DTV killer snake movies out there!

I don't know why they're making this. With today's climate of Janet Jackson's breast being the most horribly shocking thing to ever see, how could they manage to top the sexploitation of the original? (Which could never be made today). Like most of the DTV "erotic" sequels out there, the nudity will probably be provided by a couple of extras.

Ashton Kutcher is wise to steer clear of this. He can finish That 70s Show and quietly sink into obscurity.
