Dammit, I would love to meet Tom Savini. I'll hopefully get the chance at some point in the near future. :(

For me, Savini is just an added bonus. I'm dying to see Creepshow, Young Frankenstein, Blacula, The Exorcist, and the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers on the silver screen.

Awesome!! Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably go if I don't blow all my money at Cinema Wasteland next month.

PUBLICITY! (http://www.fangoria.com/news_article.php?id=2816)

Three horror festivals in one state, and what does North Carolina get? Nascar.

countchocula- we will get the Nevermore festival in Durham in January or February. Not nearly as commercial as most but a good 8-12 awesome films each year.

I know, but I'm never able to make it. There's a convention center 10 minutes away from my house. Would some nice horror junkie with the wherewithal to organize a fun "geek out" event please USE it?

The riotous revelry occurs this weekend. For whatever reason, they've removed Creepshow from the line-up (grrr...), but I'll live.

Have a fun time Count!!

I see that tickets have sold-out so we are gonna go to a friends house that has a big screen TV and bring a bunch of our own horror dvds and make a weekend of it.

I hate to say it, but this year's Nightmare was poorly organized. Microphones didn't work, a couple of the guests were drowned out by the drunken crowd, and the prize giveaways felt more like a yard sale.

"Whoever raises their hands first gets a copy of a movie no one's ever heard of!"

I did have fun, but it wasn't a very seamless production. It didn't seem like the hosts and hostesses took it seriously enough. I should have seen this coming, but they screened Blacula, Young Frankenstein, and The Exorcist after I left. They were the last three films to roll. Here's what I did catch...

Idle Hands ~ A lot better than I remembered it being. Everyone had a blast with it, and it was a great way to kick things off.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers ('56) ~ Those in attendance played MST3K with this one. I wouldn't have minded if it was a dreadful movie, but this is Invasion of the Body Snatchers we're talking about here. The obnoxious derision only served to ruin the viewing experience for me.

Horror ~ God, this is the last film you want to show in front of 300 inebriated horror freaks. It was torn to pieces. The crowd was never silent for more than five seconds at a time. The film's effects technician was present for a brief, uncoordinated Q&A. Needless to say, I felt pretty bad for him.

Ringu ~ A comparatively hushed screening since most people were either sobering up or falling asleep. I did the latter.

Bloody Mary ~ A local shot-on-video exploitation cheapie filmed inside of Studio 35. Shockingly, it was entertaining. Ballsy, sexy, and insanely gratuitous. The cast and crew was on hand to introduce the independent effort. They deserve a firm pat on the back for creating such a fun slasher out of practically nothing. It was obviously rife with flaws, but they were easy to overlook.

Tom Savini was "on," and rambled for a solid 90 minutes. Interesting factoid - he hates Halloween!

If anyone wants to know anything else about the event, just ask. I'm still recuperating (I was awake for two days straight), and I don't feel like typing right now.

Tom Savini is awesome. His family runs a tattoo parlor near where I live...you'd think we'd have some kind of horror festival here. *whines, cries*..okay, I feel better. Maybe I can hit it next year...I'm not too far away.

Well, he was mainly bothered by the logistical errors. Having seen so many actual dead bodies (he was a photographer in Vietman), it irks him when death isn't portrayed realistically in movies. For instance, when Mikey staples Bob to the wall, his body should fall limp. It should buckle over the knife. Instead, it remains fairly erect. He also said that he stopped watching the F13 flicks after the fifth installment.

I doubt I'll go next year. Hopefully, something remotely cool will happen in my neck of the woods.

I've been busy and this is my first post for just over a week. All I can say is - WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO THE PAGE??!!!!! It looks so fucking shit, I can't believe it! Grey and red?!! What the FUCK?!! The colour and graphics look worse than the original DUKE NUKEM game! Why bother changing it?! And what's the deal with showing one reply with a black back ground, and the following in red etc?!!! That is such a WACK, LAME ASS layout! The text is too small to even read as well! Now when I scroll down the different sections I can barely see what I'm looking for - and I've set the text on LARGEST!! I'm not even sticking around for this shit - and I'm not just running off at the mouth cos I've had a bad day - I WAS fine until I saw this! Why bother changing? Just somebody tell me! The last layout was fucking kick ass and everyone was familiar with it - now we get this shit! GREY?!!! FUCKING GREY?!!! COME ON!!!! Worst layout I've seen since in years. Congratulations.
