me thinks this looks magnificant,
and while I like Black and White
on occasion, I'm not in the mood
to see it (the movie) in B&W.
Atleast there is some color, but I am sure
my attitude will change when I finally get a
chance to see the whole thing.

The opening scene with Josh Hartnett isn't from any of the books they said would be in this (the ones they said were The Big Fat Kill, That Yellow Bastard, and The Hard Goodbye, that scene was from A Dame to Kill For). So, either there's going to be a few surprises, or... Well, I'm not sure, but it's a very, very good thing.
**VERY MINOR SPOILERS**
The shot of Clive Owen sinking someone (or something like that) was just... wow.
That was Dale drowning a thug in a toilet (remember the line, "you forgot to flush"? :D )
I think the reason I loved it so much was because I remember all of those scenes from the comics. If anyone wants to know about anything about any of the scenes, just shoot me a pm. Oh, and the music was incredibly perfect. I'm so glad I don't need to worry about a soundtrack ruining it.

The clip itself is buggier than a motherfuck but trudging through it was well worth my time.I didnt have any intrest in this at first, but then one fine day at the comic shop I grabbed the first tpb (along with the babe wore red and other stories) and it looks fucking dead on. Gotta love alba (how the fuck shes getting by playing a stripper and NOT getting naked it above and beyond me)...wow

Glad to see I'm not the only one having trouble with the clip. It runs, but goes out of sync, and stutters... but that aside, it looks great. Good use of shooting style. Using CG, not to BE, the movie, but to reflect the style of the story... being just like the graphic novel... and it works.
Robert is SUCH a stylistic director. He tends to rely on CG too much, but (Spy Kids 3 aside), it's not distracting. He uses it as a short cut, and that's cool. This movie is ALL done on green screen, and while I do oppose it, it looks like it will really enhance the graphic novel to screen look, and knowing Robert, he'll pull it off with class, instead of arrogance.

Despite having already read that they had managed to capture the Sin City look I still didn't really know how it would turn out or how successful the attempt would be. Having now seen these clips all I can say is that they have succeeded 100%. This movie is looking incredibly cool. I'll have to go haul all of my Sin City comics out of storage now. Time for a refresher course.

Ehhhh...I don't know. Parts of it look good, but it also looks like Lars von Trier's Sin City. There's simply nothing going on in the backgrounds! I know, I know, it's a 'direct adaptation' (altough very few shoots looked verbatim, much to my dismay), but still. Also, how do you make a cohesive whole by using three different stories? How are ALL these characters going to be handeled? It seems like Robert Rodriguez's Pulp Fiction to me. Rodriguez's track record is fair to bad, so it's hard for me to give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't know, it looks rather ridiculous to me and although it's an adaptation, still doesn't look all that much like the comics. There weren't grays in the comics. But that's nitpicking, consider me underwhelmed.

That footage was beyond impressive. I had been wanting to see some and the first didn't work for me, but MovieBox and Quicktime make for good viewing. I am now even more pumped for this. That beginning with Josh Hartnett and Marley Shelton looked great, and the buildings spelling out Sin City was very cool. Had I not known, Nick Stahl would've gone completely unknown for me and Benicio's nose changes his appearance a good bit. And didn't anybody think Alexis Bledel looked like Robin Tunney?
Jessica Alba, chaps, a dance, and a cowboy hat make for good times, and that closing shot of Devon Aoki was awesome.
I can't wait for this. Bravo Robert Rodriguez.
I've not read the comics and was not really too excited about this pic. That just changed. If it plays anything like as good as it looks we could have the best film of next year here.

RE:
Remember that those shots might not be finished yet. This is preview footage. A great percentage of the film is shot against blue screen. So those scenes with black background might simply not have the sets in them yet.
I think the opening scene is the best indication of how the final film will look like.

Yeah , that didn't make any sense , i figured every background would be rendered and that the drawings were just the images from the comics that will double as the storyboards .
The film does look interesting , but i have to admit Mickey Rourke and that guy from T 3 look laughable .

All I can say is  AWWWWWWWWww. I've never read the comic, but this looks pretty fucking sweet. I just hope Rodriguez can make a decent f-ing film, because ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO sucked very large hairy grainy firey donkey balls.
Rosario! :p I love Rosario Dawson. Ever since KIDS. Thank you Larry Clark for discovering her, and thank you Spike Lee for HE GOT GAME.

RE:
Not really any more laughable than many characters in LOTR. Like LOTR, Sin City is a fantasy story. It's not grounded in reality in any way, and some characters will look like straight out of a comic book (!).
The rendition of those two characters is exceptionally loyal to the comic, so it's cool for comic fans like me.

***SPOILERS***
Yellow Bastard used to be a rich guy, who was also a child molester. Hartigan (Bruce Willis) catched him and killed him -almost. Hartigan destroyed his body so completely, than when Yellow Bastard was saved with extensive plastic surgery and all that stuff (probably including some chemical experiments as well), he ended up looking kind of "weird".
Marv has a tendency for violence. Don't remember where those band aids came from. Maybe it was after he jumped through a window? But it's straight from the comic.

Ok...we get it...you don't want to see it...no one cares man...seriously... Why post again and again on a topic of a movie you don't want to see?
I think the clip looked excellent, very true to the spirit of the books... be hard to imagine how they're going to possibly cram all that content (read: violence and extensive nudity both male and female) into one r-rated movie... But I'm quite excited about it. All the actors look perfectly cast (except for Brittany Murphy but she has such a minor role) especially the three leads, Rourke, Willis and Owen. There's still a lot of the cast that hasn't been announced yet...I'm still wondering who's going to play who in it.

 Are you people kidding me????
Everyone's mentioning Carla Gugino over Rosario Dawson. Carla Gugino played the mother is Spy Kids, right? Hello, she's like old.
Rosario on the other hand, now she's highly _ _ _ _able (you fill in the blank.
Come on, there's no comparison. Didn't anyone see 25th Hour? The dance floor. The silver dress.
Rosario or Carla, if you had to choose one?

dd, the same bullshit happened to me at the Garden State thread. I was asked why I kept posting when I didn't like the movie, and was basically told that I shouldn't do it and should kindly leave the thread. Absolutely bullshit. Like you should only say things about movies you like. Hello, what the fuck is this whole forum for? Movie buffs. People who love movies. Why would we not want to discuss and talk about all of them that interest us? Makes no sense to me at all.

Yeah the movie looks like it's going to be great, he even took Frank Miller on as co-director.
As a side note on Frank Miller, anyone notice how the new Batman looks a lot like his Batman:year one? The premiss looks to the same.
All the spy kids, the faculty, and Once upon a time in Mexico all really sucked. I hope with a comic book, great actors, and a great comic book writer/artist to help him, it turns out well.
Really sucks how he's combining all the books into one film, but still the movie looks cool.
