View Full Version : Are Hellraiser 1 and 2 supposed to be set in the UK or the USA?
Because I watched them yesterday and I really cannot tell. There are american elements, but there are british elements too and imo it really is unclear.

The first Hellraiser movie was a pretty British affair all told, actors, and setting, the way i saw it was that it was set in the uk.
After the sucess of the first movie i guess they just took it more to stateside hence the US style police uniforms at the beginning of the movie!!!!
But i could be wrong

The first Hellraiser is set in USA but filmed in England. They also dubbed a few of the British actors voices over with an American accent. And I'm not sure, but I think they filmed the second one in USA.

The novella does and it was Barker's intention for the movies to, but I think the studio wanted it to appeal more to American audiences, so they changed the setting.
