Picking five is tough..
Videodrome - A Cronenberg movie is mandatory
Suspiria - The direction is a must see
The Vanishing (88) - one of the best endings in movies
Black Christmas - The villian is unsettling
Demons - to kick back and enjoy

I'll just do two, if that's OK:
Duel
I don't know what sort of stuff generally floats your boat, but this is worth seeing if you're in the mood for something gripping and tense rather than splattered in innards. It's believable in its simplicity, and like Arrow said in his review, it makes you imagine yourself in the predicament of the main character and how you'd feel in that situation - being totally alone, and relentlessly pursued and hunted by a stranger for no specific reason.
Dog Soldiers
One of the stronger Brit horrors in recent years. Again, quite tense, but not overly serious. Entertaining and fun, with some surprisingly likeable characters despite the naff macho laddish-attitudes. For me, a bonus is that the characters are English, but if you're a foreigner who finds people wot talk proper English (like what the Queen does innit) hard to understand, then watch the DVD with subtitles. ;)
Hope that helps...
Wish I could help...But I've only seen a few of those.
May's pretty good.....

From this list I've seen:
Suspiria---creepy and stylish
Dog Soldiers---a good mixture of horror & humor
April Fool's Day---fun slasher movie with a surprise ending
The Changeling---one of the best ghost movies
Black Christmas---one of the scariest slashers ever
So there are my five LOL.

Definitely these from my point of view, especially The Ugly... a delightfully smarmy film.

I pretty like all the mentioned movies I must say, so it is difficult just to pick 5.
If you are a giallo fan you will like Alice Sweet Alice but it is not for every-one, creepy movie but with a lot of atmosphere.
Stage Fright is a very good giallo by Michele Soavi, gory but also with style (very good music by Simon Boswell and beautiful cinematography)
The Hole is a clever british psychological thriller with a good ending and good acting.
The Ugly is a strange movie, it is not really a slasher but looks more like Henry:POASK which is a good thing.
Sometimes gory but has style (lot's of blue and when his inner demons appear, brrr !)

The Changeling- It is one of the best haunted house movie ive seen. its pace starts slow but if you like suspense youll like this.
May- This little movie is a very creepy one. it is character driven and pretty well acted.
videodrome- David Cronenberg. if you know who he is, you might know what to expect. a new dvd of it came out but i havent seen it. i still have my vhs copy.
Tenebre- Dario Argento. Colors, blood, dark gloves. italian giallo.
Donnie Dorko- mind trip
