This looks like a cross between Harry Potter and the Adams Family. Has anyone here read the books? Apparently there are about 11 out there. If this film is a hit at the box office we could see many sequels in the future. Do you think its a good idea?

I have never read any of the books. But it will be interesting to see if it has a fallowing like Harry Potter books and movies do.

Well, I've read the first three books, and after the second one, I pretty much lost interest as they were all the same. That aside, I think this actually looks to be pretty decent...at the very least, just a beautiful film to look at (The Village anyone?), plus the girl who plays Violet is only like a year younger than me and she is just too sexy for words...

my sister read the first book, and immedaiately she started pointing out how this looked nothing like it, just from the trailer

I've read some of the books, and I liked them. The film could go either way. The trailer seems to focus a wee bit to much on Jim Carrey though (they could at least name a few other people in the movie).
