Pretty much what the title of the thread says, is Zombi 2 any good?
Im aware of the films back history, but wanted to know from my fellow shmoes what they thought of this little gore fest before going out and smacking my hard earned $$$ on the new special edition!
Good, bad, or ugly, im all ears!

Zombi 2 is the epitome of the Italian zombie genre. It's lacking in the story department, but Fulci makes up for that with an engulfing atmosphere, in-your-face gore effects, and some very cool scenes (stick in the eye & zombie vs. scuba diver vs. shark). The first half is pretty slow, but the final act really picks up.
8/10

Some don`t consider it a zombie movie and it isn`t one per se, but it`s the best Fulci movie I`ve seen thus far (that includes City of the Living Dead, The Beyond and House by the Cemetery). It`s really artistic and surreal and I love the zombies of this movie. Besides their lousy make-up, their uber-slowness and absence of the desire to eat human flesh makes them some of the scariest zombies I`ve seen.
City of the Living Dead is also a great movie.
I myself have yet to see Zombi 2. If a better edition doesn`t come out in UK, I`m afraid I have to cash out for the lousy disc by Vipco or a similar company.

The Beyond (7/10) isn't Fulci's best film, but it's not too bad either. The final act is very impressive, it's littered with cool, atmospheric shots, and it's very, very gory.

I think zombie 2 is fulci's best film. I bought the old anchor bay DVD for 10 bucks. my advice is to save yourself $10 and get that version. but definately get it!!
here are the fulci movies I've seen and what I think of them:
zombie-great zombie film-buy it
the beyond(AKA-seven doors of death)-great zombie movie as well, buy it
house by the Cem.-good movie-rent it
city of the living dead(AKA-gates of hell)-good movie rent it
cat in the brain(AKA-nightmare concert)-great movie-rent it
demonia-not that goog, dont bother seeing it
dont torture a duckling-not a horror movie-I didn't really like it.
house of clocks-it's ok, but there's no need to see it.

Fulci-
Zombie, 1979- 7/10
The Beyond, 1981- 1/10
House By the Cemetery, 1981- 0/10 I HATE THIS MOVIE!
Conquest, 1983- 7/10
Overall, I like Fulci... despite a few major slip ups.
