He's faster than a speeding bullet, well, at least on the screen. And now Oscar winner Adrien Brody will investigate his life off the screen. Brody has signed on to star in the George Reeves biopic Truth, Justice and the American Way for Focus Features and helmer Allen Coulter. Focus hopes to begin production on the project early next year.
From a script by Paul Bernbaum, Truth will center on the enigmatic 1959 death of Reeves, who shot to stardom portraying the character of Superman on TV during the 1950s. The story will also delve into the esoteric relationship Reeves had with the character that made him so famous. Brody will play the lead investigator trying to get to the bottom of the mysterious death.
Glenn Williamson, who brought the project into USA Films (Focus' predecessor) while serving as that company's president of production, will produce the film through the Back Lot Pictures label. Bernbaum will take the executive producer's credit.
Brody, repped by CAA, was most recently seen in M. Night Shyamalan's The Village. He's currently shooting Peter Jackson's King Kong and will soon be seen in Warner Independent Pictures' The Jacket. Brody won a Best Actor Oscar in 2003 for his work in The Pianist.
