This might be Ok, but the trailer doesn't really offer anything we haven't seen before. It kind of seems like Exorcist meets Blade Runner in an odd sort of way--not terribly interesting. Keep in mind I'm not at all familiar with the comic, so I'm probably way off.
I really wish Keanu would've done something different this time around. After the colossal disappointment of the Matrix trilogy, this just looks like more of the same.

I saw a huge chunk of the movie at comic con and I have to say that this movie is going to rake in a ton of money. From what I saw which I think was over 20 minutes of footage this is a highly original movie with some really inventive sequences going on in it.

I'm really looking forward to this one. I should say here that I've never read an issue of the source material (the Hellblazer comic), but the solid trailer and two of my favorites (Keanu and Rachel Weisz) will have me in the theater on opening day.
The only flaw I noticed was the title logo........am I the only one who thought it looked generic?
Doesn't matter though, it'll still be good.
Yarbles. You're talking 'bout one of the most violent sadistic comicbooks ever, and what rating are the fucking WB going for? PG13.
Well fuck that.
Of course it's also worth mentioning that hellblazer is a quintessentially British comicbook, so the fact the movie's set in the usa and Constantine's now american is enough to piss this brit off. And we all know how good the last usa version of a UK comic, judge dread, was?

Since I have no connection to the source material, I have no qualms about the movies rating. An R would have been nice, but oh well.
If the script is well written and the directing is tight, I have no problem with the film's rating or setting.
And hey, Judge Dredd wasn't that bad.

looks good, I was saying cool and awesome when I was watching the trailer. I am not a big fan of Keanu Reeves, but I did like him in The Matrix trilogy and I am going to see this when it comes out in January 2005.

I thought this was a new trailer. It's the same one that's been circulating for months.
I'm still harbouring a major grievance for the change of location and the appalling casting decision that is Keanu Reaves. However, i'm willing to divorce the movie from the comic and see it with as unclouded a judgement as I can muster. I would still have preferred that it be set in the UK and that an appropriate UK actor be cast as Constantine. I would also have preferred that the movie be called Hellblazer. But there you go. That's Hollywood for you.

I've read a couple of TPB's of Hellblazer, where the quality ranged from piss poor to very good. I don't have the same attachment to it as others like Psychocandy, so I'm gonna judge it as a standalone movie. From the trailer, which has been circulating since May, I think it looks very interesting, and the positive word from the San Diego Comic Con helps fuel my anticipation

At the panel I atteneed at the Con the director talked about how the studio was really hellbent on not getting the movie mixed up with Hellraiser. So that's why they did the title switcheroo.

Which is also the reason for the comic being Hellblazer and not Hellraiser. I read that Hellraiser was the original title, but pending a possible lawsuit from Barker, who planned to start an HR comic book, they had to change the name

Ok...that kinda makes sense I suppose. I'd still have preferred Hellblazer but I can understand why they decided to change it. I'm still not keen on all the other changes. But i'm willing to set aside my problems and view the movie in as unaffected a manner as I can adopt. Hell...you never know. It might actually be good.
.....
Bollocks. Ignore this post. I'm slightly inebriated at the moment.
