Ok, what is the best combination of movies in a row that you could possibly watch in a single night? In other words, post the 4 or 5 (or more!) movies that would satisfy you the most to watch one after the other.
I have two possibilities:
1) Mind-fuck/drama
Donnie Darko
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Vanilla Sky
Requiem for a Dream
Fight Club
2) Tarantino action/Kubrick
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
Kill Bill (Vol.1+2)
True Romance
A Clockwork Orange
Full Metal Jacket

Well, I'll try to be clear this time, or maybe this thread is shit like you say:
What would be the perfect selection of movies for YOU to watch in a single night?
Anyways, if you don't get it I tried my best...lol

This wasn't very hard for me to interpret, here's how I understood it: if you were to spend an entire night watching several movies that are all somehow related, or in the same genre, or I suppose he might mean just your favorites, which would they be? Basically, a short list of movies that fit into a certain theme. For example, you might want to watch several westerns, or several comedies of the SNL cast member variety (Tommy Boy, Wayne's World, etc.). Pretty simple.

Personally, I find it very difficult to watch more than two movies straight, and more than three, maybe four in a day.

I agree, I usually would like one movie to settle into me before I try to concentrate on another. I've tried watching two in a row several times but always I end up thinking about the previous movie.

I can do it if they're thematically similar (I remember watching Foreign Correspondent, The Wrong Man and Rebecca, all in a row and all for the first time, on TCM one night several years ago.)
And Tayzlor, I must say: I love your av. I used an image of Anna from that same set as mine a few months ago. It perfectly captures her deep, enigmatic beauty

I'm one of those freaks who can watch one movie after another after another -- all night... Or marathons of tv shows that I have the DVDs for.
I like to watch Blade II, Hellboy, and Underworld together because of the tone.
I usually follow Wayne's World with Joe Dirt or Empire Records.
I have also been known to blow an entire day watching the LOTR trilogy, because now that I own all of them I have to watch them in sequence...

I agree, but still, I would like to try it out using my lists above, in a day when I'm not too busy though. :)

I would willingly tackle your Mystery/Noir list above if I could start at @ 10:00 AM, watch the two Wilders back to back, take a break for a few hours, watch The Third Man at @ 5:00 PM, eat dinner, take a little while off and then watch The Maltese Falcon and Out Of The Past starting around 9:00.
That's not all day on a secluded Mediterranean beach with Jessica Alba, but it's still pretty damned good.

Yeah, that would be my first choice to tackle as well. And I'd watch them in the same order. My most memorable experiences with The Third Man, The Maltese Falcon, and Out of the Past were in the exact same time that you mentioned, and the two Wilder Noirs are especially effective to watch during the day time, although I'd often like to watch Sunset Boulevard at noon, when the atmosphere is right.

When I have a movie marathon so to speak, I always like to match movies that are connected in some way. Like a director marathon (an example is watching Rear Window, Vertigo, North by Northwest, and Psycho one after the other), star marathon ( Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, and Scarface), or any other strange combo I can think of.
