The Last Temptation of Christ is Martin Scorsese's best movie following Raging Bull and Taxi Driver. It is better and more complete than Mel Gibson's gorefest.
I think THE PASSION is easily the better movie. Both are quality though.

Both are good movies but I prefer The Last Temptation of Christ. That's probably because Willem Dafoe rules!

The Last Temptation
Not a good film, but a masterpiece when compared to the other movie!

both of my favorites but The Passion of The Christ easily kicks The Last Temptation's ass.

THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST.
Scorsese's film felt more passionate, like he put his heart and soul into it. While I'm not denying Gibson's reverence, his movie felt more hollow.

I agree. I think the question is rather apples-and-oranges despite the films' being about the same guy. They both have great merit in their own way. But I may have to go with "Last Temptation" by a nose for the following reasons:
1. Martin Scorsese is the man.
2. Willem DeFoe is also the man.
3. Harvey Keitel? The man.
4. "Passion" is tedious. Not just because of the gore--I could stomach that okay. I'm talking literally: practically the whole fucking movie is in slo-mo. Obviously Gibson's intent was to milk every last ounce of drama from every image, but it's a damn unimaginative way of doing so.
5. Peter Gabriel's score is way cooler than the generic "world music" we get in "Passion."
6. "Temptation" speaks to me WAY more. I think it was much bolder of Scorsese, on a personal level, to make a movie exploring the idea of Jesus doubting himself and struggling with his own humanity than it was of Gibson to make a movie detailing the torture he went through. Really, passion plays and artists' depictions have been doing that for centuries! It's a Catholic thing. Part of me can understand and appreciate that on its own terms, but like I said, Scorsese's vision speaks to me more.

I can't vote.
They are both great and even if they are both about segments in the life of Jesus, they are two diffrent movies.
I would watch Passion more simply because I think it has a higher replay value. Temptation has the circle meditation scene that I can watch over and over. But overall, I say they are both equal.
PASSION, hands down. No offense to Dafoe, though.
