Well this following week's line up is a little bit better... I mean this week's lineup sucks (from estimates, Autumn in NY is #3 in box office, Replacements is #4, and Bless the Child is #7, while Hollow Man & Space Cowboys both tie in the first place so far)!
I'm pretty excited about The Cell, I think it's going to be pretty good.... What do you think?
Which of the movies (Godzilla 2000, The Cell, Original Kings of Comedy) that open next week are you going to see?

Original Kings of Comedy is what I am going to see, but I am also looking forward to The Cell. Maybe I'll do a doublehitter that night, or go back and see the Cell the next day.

THE CELL just looks really, really...well, fucked up! (there's no other way to say it). I saw about 15 minutes of this film at the San Diego Con and after the first 5 minutes, I felt like I was in a surreal painting by Dali or something. I DOUBT the movie will make any money, but it might just be interesting to look at.
GODZILLA 2000 also looks pretty cool, although I REALLY have no idea what to expect. The trailer makes it look cheezy, but at the same time, it has some pretty cool effects. Will American audiences accept another Godzilla flick AND a dubbed one on top of that?! Don't know but I'm intrigued.
ORIGINAL KINGS OF COMEDY, bla-bla. Doesn't really do anything for me. Hadn't heard of any of the guys (we don't get UPN or WB here in Canada), but word on the street is that it's pretty funny. Will see.

haha well im quite surprised that Autumn in NY is beating The Replacement in the box office... just unbelievable!
Well Joblo, i believe u more than I believe Roger Ebert (who says The Cell is a great film on the last show), so I probably won't waste my money on The Cell!

JoBlo what do you give The Cell, I'm really intrested cause I do actualy agree with Ebert more than you and he wet his pants praising it. So I wanna see what you think of this, because if you liked it too then well then this is positioning itself to be a fabulous (if entirely fucked up) movie.
I will be seeing godzilla 200! i like cheesy special effects movies, they make me appreciate my corny special effect movies! /ubb/smile.gif

Yah Joblo when will your review for The Cell be up? The reason I don't agree with Ebert as much is because Ebert looks at whether or not it is a good movie technically (a good movie doesn't mean it's fun for the audience...), while Joblo reviews and rates the movies by whether or not it is entertaining and fun for us, plus his reviews are more straight forward and not so technical... which is what the audience really needs. (I do respect Ebert a lot though, I mean he has done so much to get himself to where he is today)

Thanks Pinchadiscos, and that's pretty much the reason I started writing reviews in the first place...I just didn't think the "real" critics were telling us MOVIE FANS what we really needed to hear about films!
FYI, if anyone ever wants to see what films I will be reviewing and WHEN, click on RELEASE DATES in the JoBlo menu. It gives you the entire listing, always updated. /comingsoon.htm
Having said that, I just saw THE CELL and loved it! One of my favorite films of the year and FINALLY, an original movie that slapped me out of my late summer cinematic lethargy! Review up soon...

Well I just read the review, and it seems like Joblo really liked it. Well, i am going to check it out for sure! /ubb/smile.gif Somehow I think The Cell will be nominated for Best Picture and Jennifer Lopez will be competing for BEst Actress with Julia Roberts (Erin Brockovich)...
By the way, the final data for the weekend box office is out... From studio estimates, Autumn in New York is the #3 movie with 11.5 million, and The Replacement is #4 with 11.1 million; however, when the actual final data comes out, the Replacements is #3 with 11.0 million, while Autumn in New York is #4 and only earning #10.9 million... the difference between the Estimate and Final Data for Autumn in NY is probably one of the biggest I have seen... /ubb/biggrin.gif

I plan to see the cell (even though it looks fucked up big time). The other 2 don't do much for me. I will not see The kings Of Comedy!!!!!! I read EW's review of it, and all they said was, the whole act was with the diffiences between blacks and whites, man that's been done so many times! Godzilla 2000 could be so bad it's good, or it could be just plain bad, I will wait to here more about that one. But it looks like The cell for me, and oh yea Joblo---- I heard jennifer Lopez was neekid, but I read the arrow's review and it didn't say that she was!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!

Out of the three this week the one i'm looking forward to see is The Cell, it looks like a very fucked up movie, i'm interested. I also wouldn't mind seeing Godzilla 2000, it looks like one of those movies so bad it's gonna be pretty funny. I'm not really interested in The Kings of Comedy though, I might rent it when it comes out on video or something.

Yah the Cell is very good, very original... I really liked it! Do you think The Cell will win box office? or will Godzilla 2000?

Godzilla 2000 is the pick for me. Our newspaper's review of it made it sound worth it. Original Kings of Comedy looks like dumb, it doesn't look like a movie with any plot to it at all. The Cell, dunno, Atumn in NY? no no no.

Godzilla 2000, I loved it. That's the Godzilla I grew up with and the one I wanted to see. After the complete waste in Godzilla '98, which is on my list of all time worst movies, this was fun. Sorry but Godzilla doesn't eat big piles of fish or have babies for crying out loud. He goes out and kicks some ass. The fire breathing and screaming Godzilla is what I pay to see. The dubbing is part of the fun. Highly recommmend it to folks who grew up with Godzilla in the '60's. The only problem was that the losers from Godzilla '98, Matthew Broderick and the screaming chick, weren't in this one. It would have been cool to watch the REAL Godzilla fry their asses for pissing on a legend.
