thanks to DigitalBits.com

Industry sources have slipped us some interesting information, revealing a few interesting titles that Paramount is considering for re-release as Special Collector's Editions in 2005. This information is extremely tentative, but you might keep your eyes peeled for new SCEs of Face Off, Airplane, McLintock!, Hondo, The Truman Show, Braveheart, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and maybe... just maybe... Titanic, among other titles, by the end of next year. Presumably, those films released previously on DVD in non-anamorphic widescreen will receive new HD anamorphic transfers.

looks like ill be rebuying: Face/Off and Ferris Bueller... possibly rebuy Truman Show.

this is still a tentative list.. i hope they add a special edition of South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut to the list to coincide w/ the release of Team America on DVD (which i hope gets a good DVD release)!

I'd gladdly buy a SE of Face/Off. If only all Special Editions were as nice as the Star Trek SEs that Paramount puts out.

I'm betting that Titanic won't get a SE until 2007 to mark it's tenth Anniversary.

I'd basically get all of them and it's about time that Titanic hopefully gets it's own SE

Same here for Face/Off. And go figure they announce the SE after I finally broke down and bought the bare-bones version. Those extras better be packed, and the video transfer had damn well better be pristine.

Well, I already bought Face/Off....Meh, it's not really worth a double dip at all...

Thank god I didn't buy Ferris Bueller, I have Truman Show on DVD..Time to upgrade!

What a fucking great movie. I'd probably re-buy the movie for the Special Edition.

Of course Paramount will only release Special Editions of titles that are likely to sell well but I am still waiting for me SEs of Chinatown, Apocalypse Now, and Nashville.

They'll be released on HD or Bluray or whatever it is that they are creating? DAMNIT.

I'll upgrade my Ferris Bueller, Airplane, and Truman Show DVD's. I'll also grab the SE editions of Face/Off and maybe, just maybe Titanic.

I've always wanted to buy Face/Off on DVD, but I knew eventually that they would release a special edition of it. My friend was always on me on how they would never release one. And now I can tell him, yes Brian, they are.

That was me with Bueller, which I bought after I saw Garden State.

"Whats the odds of them ever redoing this? Paramount sucks ass"

Yes, this has happened to me a number of times. This is the same reason why I haven't bought The Fifth Element. You just know there's gotta be some kind of special release for it. I heard the original cut clocked in at around three hours long.

Of course, there might never be a SE until I buy it. Maybe I should take one for the team and get it, therefore triggering the cosmic events that will lead to a Fifth Element SE.

I will probably re-buy Braveheart. This film is long overdue for an SE anyway. I doubt I'll double dip on Face/Off, though it is a fun movie. I've been putting off buying Bueller for a while, now I'm glad I did. My VHS copy will have to suffice for just a bit longer :)

Id probably be picking up Face off and Truman show only if Truman has an alternate extended ending where it continued where it left off.

I'll certainly get Face/Off (John Woo's last good movie), Bueller, Titanic (leave me be, it's not bad) and The Truman Show. Braveheart and Airplane depend on the new extras.

BRAVEHEART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At last it arrives on special edition.
Woot Woot to the Wootizal!!!!
Perhaps it will have the alternate ending
where Wallace picks up his bowels and such and beats the British bonks.
