*According to the trades, Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell are in talks to don the pastel suits of detectives Ricardo Tubbs and James “Sonny” Crockett respectively in a planned feature film version of “Miami Vice,” the 1980s TV show starring Philip Michael Thomas and Don Johnson. The original series ran from 1984 to 1989 and focused on two cops who took on Florida's drug world – with their sleeves pushed up.
Sonny crokett needs to be played by somebody like brad pitt with blonde hair.....jamie fox could pull off the tubbs role though...

I heard about this yesterday... not so sure about Colin Farrell, but I think Jaime Foxx is a good choice.
Just when I gain a certain amount of admiration for Jamie Fox...

As much as I hate to say this, I see Paul Walker as Crockett rather than Farrell.

paul walkers got that young twenties look, but hes still a better fit than colin farell....crockett looked to be in his early thirties on the show...fox could pull of tubbs part as long as he doesnt try to be funny......

Jamie Foxx maybe, but not Colin Farrell. And, it's gotta be totally glitzy and serious like the show.

Miami Vice is in my top 10 favorite shows, probably in the top few. People dismiss it as superfiscial 80s cheese, but no matter what people say the show totally changed the way people make TV shows. All of these fucking shows that people goo over now-a-days like Law & Order, ER, West Wing owe a huge nod for the creaters for bringing cinematic style to the small screen. Especially in the 2-4th seasons of the show, many episodes, to me, still play out better than most feature movies that are released now-a-days. The show brought an intensity that had never been seen in the living rooms before.
So, if you didn't guess, I"m pretty stoked about this flick!
I think physically Farell could pull it off if they did a dye job. What concerns me is this Irishman nabbing the Florida accent. Floridians have a pretty distinct way about our voice, and I'm worried Crockett will end up sounding like a country folk lost in the city.
Fox, I'm not tottally gung-ho about either. I really think he's going to do a good job, especially if Tubbs has a few scenes where he plays the islander out to cut a deal. Fox, to me, has the opposite problem I'm seeing with Farell. I'm not sure if he physically captures Tubbs. Remember, Tubbs was really smooth faced, and a ladies man. I don't get that from Fox, who appears to me more rough than Rico.
Either way, I'm sure both will do fine. I'm excited to see the results, and honestly can't think of anyone else to play the parts.
And I heard that they are modernizing it, which doesn't thrill me, but what no one's mentioned yet is that Michael Mann is writing, producing and directing it. I trust the Mann, and am sure he'll capture a proper image. Nearly every movie he's made has that Vice feel -- and I like the fact mann doesn't resort to changing the culture of his work to keep up with current pop. Everything he's done stands alone, lending a distinct style that is Mann's
I do wish Yerkovich was involved though.
Here's some casting to think about:
Who should play Izzy, the wacky cuban informant?
The Lt.?
Are they going to include the side characters like Gina, Big Booty Trudy, and Zito?
Should they give Crockett a rock star girlfirend?
2006..... damn.
