Wilson in Cast Away. He almost stole the show from Tom Hanks!

I laughed hysterically at Bob Barker in The Waterboy.
And in Jerry Maguire I love the bit with Troy Akman and his manager. HEhe.

Actually, the scene where Bob Barker gets into a fight with Adam Sandler is in Happy Gimore, not the Waterboy. And yes that scene is hilarious!

Another recent example is that kickass truck the bad guy uses in Jeepers Creepers. That truck was a character in itself!

Morris Day in Purple Rain
Lara Belmont gets my vote, she was brilliant in The War Zone. She had a demanding role, was just 18 when the film was shot and had never acted before.
Freddie Cunliffe, who plays her brother in the film had also not acted before and he too was excellent.

Also, she is a one hot piece of ass. And yeah, the film was great as well.

Henry Rollins! he plays the best cop on screen that I have ever seen, in The Chase. he really nailed it with his version of what a cop is like.
not to mention his role as Spider in Jonny Nmemonic. watch the movie, the scence where god awful Keanu Reeves is asking what's wrong with the girl, and old Henry is giveing that great monologue and then you see Keanu giveing nothing back to him. what an ass. great work, Hank.

Jason Lee in Mallrats. He was a professional skateboarder before doing this, in case you didn't know. Ice Cube in Boyz 'n the 'Hood. Mark Wahlberg has established himself as a pretty great actor if you disregard POTA and The Substitute.

Two Oscar-winning first-timers:
Harold Russell in The Best Years of Our Lives (he's also a fellow Nova Scotian)
Haing S. Ngor in The Killing Fields
PLUS
Marc Anthony in the masterpiece Bringing Out the Dead (he really should act more)
R. Lee Ermey in the excellent Full Metal Jacket
Bob Barker in Happy Gilmore (the ONLY time I've ever laughed during a Sandler movie...if you don't count the times I was laughing at how bad his movies are)

Ray Allen is not only a badass in real life, but he did a damn good job in He Got Game. I wish I could say the same for Shaq...
