View Full Version : Should we allow foreign born citizens to run for President?
Again on Access Hollywood i saw that "Anuld" would like to run for President one day.
So, should we ammend the constitution to allow foreign born citizens to run for the Oval Office?
I say, sure. Foreign born citizens have as much to offer in terms of ideas as anyone. Plus, remember, our 1st president was foreign born, ;).

There should be guideline, like having to actually have residency here for an amount of years.

I agree, maybe around 20-25 years or so.
Oh, I forgot. Arnold has a message for those who vote no.

I don't think this rule should be changed. A person born in another country might have a divided allegiance. Foreign born citizens can have any other job but this one. I'm sure some great people wil fall through the cracks but the risk is too great for us to take a chance in this one job. I like the rule and think they did not implement it lightly. Maybe Arnie's kid can be pres someday and he will be happy with that.

Now that's a nice a thought. This would be pretty cool.
Also, it would make a prophecy out of that horrible 80s joke about them breeding bullet-proof Kennedy's.

There have been leaders of nations that came from other places...
Napolean Bonaparte came from Corsica, Italy, but he ruled France.
Adolph Hitler came from Austria, but ruled Germany.
Ah-nuld Schwarzenegger came from Austria, but rules Kahl-ee-fornia.
Osama bin Laden comes from Saudi Arabia, but controlled Afghanistan. (With strings, of course. Dance, puppets!)
George W. Bush comes from Texas, but controls the United States.

Come to think of it, no. I wouldn't want a foreign person as President. It hasn't worked so far.

Frankly I don’t really care, the president hardly has any “power” to "control" nevertheless, and the U.S. is managed by congress anyways. The president only has something called influence.
