Boy, as we spread democracy to new countries we are not setting a good example with stories like these as well as the fact that in some counties there are more registered voters then there should be. and add to that the fact that people rebel against showing ID.As someone has said, even at the library you need to show ID. In an election it seems foolish to not at least make it hard to commit voter fraud.

Minnesota is quite amazing in it's voting system.

After being in Florida for the debacle, then being repulsed by the 2002 electronic voting system I was blown back by how much sense it seems to make up here.

Let me go through some of the differences -

FLA - Register 30 days prior to election
MN - Register at the polls. Out of state ID? Bring a current bill, or someone registered can vouche for you

FLA - Electronic votes
MN - Paper ballots that you feed directly into a machine

FLA - Paper ballots hard to read
MN - Clear spaces between dif. candidates

FLA - Paper ballots you punched out a hole (remember hanging chads?)
MN - Paper ballots were bubble type

FLA - Anyone standing in line when polls closed was asked to leave
MN - If you are in line when they close, you vote

This are just some things that stuck out for me.
