Venom. Still, I think if Eddie Brock would've descended into madness after he found out he was dying of cancer and instead of commiting suicide became a serial killer, we could've done without Kassidy and had just one menacing badass that incorporated the very worst of both Venom and Carnage, because that's all Carnage is to me, a serial killer with no depth as a character and no long history with Peter Parker like Eddie Brock has. But I still think Venom's the best Spider-Man villain.

He's just one of the most complex villains in terms of his origins (Eddie Brock's life crumbling around him, conttemplating suicide). And not to mention he is as close a Nemesis as anyone to Spiderman because the two are so alike. And he is just one mean mofo.

The Norman and Harry incarnations.
There is no other villain that has messed up Spidey's life more than the Green Goblin. Let's not even dwell with the fact that Gwen Stacy died as of a result of the Green Goblin, both Norman and Harry knew who Spider-man was and made it a personal war between them (involving friends and family). This imo elevates the Goblin's status. It was personal (so much so than with any villain, not counting Venom who also knew who spidey was, but never messed with him in such a pychological way). Plus, even though many consider Norman the better Goblin (he was the more cunning and vicious), I think Harry was the best because he was Peter Parker's best friend. Peter could never break the bond with Harry, no matter how far his friend descended into madness. And to his credit, Peter stuck by Harry to the end and in the last moments, when harry saved Peter, Harry acknowledged the kinship (and in Peter's forever guilt ridden mind, Harry became yet another person he could not save. Another victim of The Green Goblin).

While almost every other rogue in spidermans gallery was an innocent something or other, who befell a horrible accident, blah blah blah, my man Kasady is just some crazy ass mofo who happened to be sharing a cell with brock when venom bailed him out of jail, and pooped out "child", letting him coincide with the most powerful weapon known to man. Carnage is just the shit...and that's all there is to it. He's everything a villain should be.

Green Goblin is and always will be, however, the original F'ing gangSTAR. He's just an ultimo badass.

It's just the story that comes with him, all of his run ins with peter parker and spiderman as eddie brock. then how he gets his power from an alien suit after spiderman has it first. Then after that happens brock knows all about peter. It's just spidermans biggest threat he had to overcome, and the guy just looks like a complete bad ass.

When it comes to Spidey’s rogues gallery I must admit favor simpler ones, the one dimensional simpler ones like 1 Elektro (I like the name, the suit and the powers) 2 Kraven the hunter(Down to earth) 3 Mysterio (A fellow film fan)

CARNAGE to me was a fluke, a quick money operation by Marvel to capitalize on Venom’s popularity; they even went as far as to create 5 or 6 more of those things for the Venom mini series.

VENOM is cool in his complexity because he is (was) raw hatred and violence for Spiderman alone, I liked that sort of personal vendetta he was carrying; when in those AMZ Spidey’s you saw his focused eyes as he bench pressed.

The GREEN GOBLIN first appearances were memorable, we couldn’t see his face and again as you all know things became very psychological, personal and interesting. But Norman and Harry have more lives than cats and it just got boring.

The HOBGOBLIN, he is a good doppelganger of the green Goblin, I can’t be annoyed at him like I am annoyed by Carnage because he brought a lot to Spidey when there wasn’t much.

JACK O’LANTERN, Carnage like boring doppelganger. Another Green Goblin wannabe.

DEMOGOBLIN are you seeing a pattern here. They made so many of those Goblins they had to number them after a while.

The VULTURE, how was he ever dangerous?

To me the best villain was always the Green Goblin since he had such close ties to Peter. The original Hobgoblin, Roderick Kingsley, was a good spin-off but they ruined him once his creator left the comic and they carried on the mystery of his secret id for far to long. The Macendale Hobgoblin was an embarrasment.

One of the most cunning villians out there, One can't even compare him to green goblin as he took GG's schtick and improved it. He didnt go insane because he made sure he tested and tweaked the formula on other people. He also brainwashed people to be hobogoblin making it extremely difficult for Spiderman to figure out who Hobgoblin really was.
