I wanted to make a thread for the comedians who are mainly political with their shows.
I love Bill Hicks(wish he was still alive today.......he would be unstoppable)and Lewis Black mainly. They're HI-LAR-I-OUS. I insist you check them out. Lewis Black does a rant once in a while on The Daily Show but he's held back on there. Download or buy his albums to see him unleashed.
So what are your favourite or worst political comedians?

Jon Stewart and Al Franken.
As an aside, I have a funny Al Franken story. My friend and I were in a bookstore in San Francisco when she whispered, "OHMYGODTHATSALFRANKEN!" I had no idea who she was talking about (this was a couple years ago). He was sitting at a table reading a book. My friend was totally awestruck. She was like, "Mr. Franken, I think you are so blah blah blah (I can't remember her exact suck-up phrases)", and I kept looking at his hair. He seemed gracious but disinterested in my friend's worship of him, and then I said, "Wow, you have got some fabulous hair! I mean, it looks like SILK!" He looked at me like, "WTF?" And I said, " I have no idea who you are, but you have some AMAZING hair!" He kind of smirked and said, "Uh, I'll thank my parents for you." He signed something for my friend and we left. She didn't speak to me for a couple days because she said that she FINALLY got to meet one of her idols and I embarrassed the shit out of her. We laugh about it now, though.
Oh, and Al, if you're reading this, I saw you on TV the other day, and your hair looked AWESOME! ;)

I like John Stewart, but I never found him to hold up well for a one man comedy show. He should stick with the Daily Show.
I can't forget Bill Maher.

Jon Stewart and Chris Rock are my favorite comedians when it comes to political matters, though Greg Giraldo from Tough Crowd is more general in his act, but I love some of his political points.
*about a middle eastern woman wearing a burka who was pulled over and showed her license to a cop, where her face was obscured*
"They should be able to get licenses, but should only apply to flying carpets."

Will Ferrell SNL, 2000 elections portraying Governor Bush…. That was the funniest shit I’ve ever seen come out of SNL. If it counts in this thread that is.
Jon Stewart runs away wiht the funny stuff every time. I don't catch much of Bill Maher, but I loved his show when it was on.

Margaret Cho.
Her "State of Emergency" tour was great. She was able to address some pretty hefty issues while still making the audience laugh their asses off. Thought I know her vulgairty and politics throw some people off, I admire her greatly for trying to inspire change.
On gay rights:
"Gay pride just isn't enough. I want straight shame"
Wanda Sykes was less politically motivated but had some great material in her "Cotton T Shirt Tour" about civils rights (be it for blacks, gays, women, ect...) and even weed legalization.
I dont have cable but what I have seen of John Stewart and Chris Rock I like, but not enough to pay that 20 buck a month fee:p

Chris Rock, Bill Hicks and George Carlin because they speak the truth.
Lewis Black just takes the facts and turns it into a horror movie. I LOVE IT!
Speaking of Stewart, the funniest quip he made on his show was mocking a Kerry speech, where he was talking about how "God only made so much oil on the earth.", after which Jon said "Fuckin' God!."
I swear a laughed for 2 straight minutes and randomly for 10 minutes after.
