View Full Version : What villains would you like to see in a Spiderman movie?

Personally, I am a comic book geek, so I am not going to sit and ramble about which ones I want to see, but I will however pick one to start the topic and will add my reasoning:
Rhino - I think with Rhino, they could have a very good movie, I think they could start off with the criminal that becomes Rhino (can't think of his name at the moment) being sent to some sort of extremely high security prison, for a string of vicious robberies/murders, followed by the government taking responsibility for this character, and putting him through a series of experiments, leading up to him getting the exo-skeleton that makes him into Rhino; Since he is already insane, the fact that he CANNOT get out of his armor drives him right over the edge and he busts out, causing havoc in good ol' NYC....enter spiderman, enter battles, now, for good measure, introduce Flint Marko (Sandman) being experimented on in the same facility as Rhino, and you have a lead up for the fourth instalment.
For that matter toss in Black Cat and watch the love triangle brew.
What do you guys think?
Venom, Carnage, nuff said.

Venom and Carnage are GREAT villains, but at the same time, don't you think that young Parker/Spidey should be a tad more ready (ie:at LEAST one more spidey flick) before puling out what I would consider the LAST spiderman movie?
I think that Venom should be the epic battle for Spiderman as far as the movies go, because you CANNOT top Venom (I am not a big fan of Carnage) and by not being able to top Venom I mean, who could you throw at Spidey in another sequel tha could give him as much of a challenge, both physically and cinematically?
good idea though.:)

rhino in my view will always be the bolo yeung of comic book villains, It would have been great if they just somehow included Eddie Brock for the First 2 movies.
A good actor for Eddie Brock would have been Vin Diesel, because no other actor ive seen could play initmadating as good as he can.
But For the 3rd i think Marvel should pull some strings and somehow get Kingpin in. (maybe turn him white) Michael Clark Duncan as the kingpin again wouldnt be bad either, you can have Kingpin and Harry form a partnership with Oscorp and Fisc corp then somewhere towards the middle Kingpin takes over the entire company and bankrupts Harry. Since in the comics when Harry found out his father was the green goblin he felt ashamed and tried to hide all of that away, You can focus on that for the first part of 3. Then after he goes bankrupt, Harry snaps and becomes the green goblin to get back at peter and the kingpin. You can have Tombstone (I'd pick Michael Jai White) as Fisks Right Hand Man, with guest a apearance maybe from Silver Mane
I'm guessing that Harry will in fact become The Green Goblin in SM3, so I'd really like to see The Hobgoblin thrown in there.
This would offer some awesome aerial fights between the three.

Vin Diesel....intimidating? He reminds me af a semi-bulked up Mr.Peanut.He looks like an extra from Antz.
Eddie Brock would be best played by someone new...and of course Venom would have to be CGI.
you are right about the Rhino thing though

yeah well eddie brock basically becomes riddick after he gets the suit, it would have to be someone whose a bad ass and is just a little older then peter. thats how vin came to mind, maybe im pushing it but i can see someone older like ron pearlman playing eddie brock.

I've always liked Mysterio and Kraven the Hunter. They were both kind of cheesy in the comic book but the ideas were great and I would like to see them developed for the screen.
Of the darker nemeses, I like Carnage and Morbius.

I'd like to see The Scorpion appear sometime, I believe he's pretty much like Doc Ock in terms of matching Spidey's strengths and with that tail of his he can definitely give Spider-Man hell.
A worthy opponent IMO.

Vulture, Lizard, and Kraven are my 3 favorite Spidey villains. I hope at least one of them makes it to the screen. They already have Dr. Connors cast, so maybe Lizard isn't too far away?

Obviously like most of you I would love to see Venom and Carnege in the spidey movies but since after the 3rd film there are rumors of 3 more films to be in the series there is time to develop Venom and Carnege into spidey's/parker life.
But for the 3rd film I would like to see Kraven The Hunter, he is a good charcter and has the strength and speed to match spidey.

How about Jason Statham to play Eddie Brock for Venom, as I think Jason Statham and Vin Deisel have that intimidating look, also Jason Statham rules.
I'm not too sure about Rhino as a villian though. I would liked to see cameloen in at least of the films.

As I watched Daredevil the other night I thought Michael Clark Duncan did do a good job playing kingpin but I would have prefered Kingpin to be played be a white guy to keep the comics realated instead of changing it.
And I would like Green Goblin to return at some point aswell. As they have already got a storyline ready as we saw Harry finding out his dad was the goblin.

Cool, me too. I'd love to see Roderick Kingsley turn up in S-M3, I was kind of hoping Thomas Haden Church was cast to play him... I guess we'll find out soon enough, but if this went down it would wrap up the Goblin Legacy nicely... Spidey vs GG2 vs Hobgoblin. Sweet. :)

I was just thinking again the other day about how I would plot out the next couple of Spider-Man movies (assuming there are going to be 7 installments, which is the last number I heard). I think all of the big villains that can carry a movie on their own have been used as of Spider-Man 3, so the upcoming installments will probably need 2 villains (at least) to keep things interesting. I mean, none of the other villains really have that dynamic contrast to Spider-Man, that big personal connection that makes the villain more than just some nutjob in a suit.
4: Dr. Connors becomes the Lizard, and Spider-Man is blamed for all the damage he causes. So Spider-Man becomes this public menace, and Scorpion is devised as a way to rid the city of Spider-Man. There ya go, two major villains in a storyline that can actually fit them both in it without seeming corny. I guess you could replace Lizard with Man-Wolf and have it work too, but I think most people (including myself) would much rather see Lizard on screen.
5: Kingpin, with Rhino as his henchman (because you just can't have Rhino be a convincing major villain); I'll also throw Vulture in here, but not as someone working for Kingpin. You can't have two costumed freaks working for you and expect to be a legitmate crimelord. Kingpin wouldn't die or anything in this movie, just "defeated," I guess you'd say. He would remain an ongoing character for the rest of the series, giving it a much-need story arch, since the Peter/Harry/Mary storyline looks like it's going to end in Spider-Man 3.
6: Mysterio and Kraven. There is an interesting dynamic to be found between these two. I'm not sure I could write a story around it myself, but I can see it being done. I wouldn't have either of them be working for Kingpin, but Kingpin would nevertheless be a character in this movie. Just not a significant factor. This might also be the best opportunity to bring in the Black Cat, if you want her to be utilized (I don't particularly care one way or another).
7: Last installment, so who do I pick? Carnage? No, I hate Carnage, but my guess is that popular demand will probably bring him into the picture at some point. But since I'm just doing my own personal picks here, I'd leave him out of the series altogether. I can't really think of a villain, or even a combination of villains that wouldn't have already been used at this point that woud make for a satisfying finale. Maybe Hobgoblin, but what's the use in bringing back the "Goblin" scenario after it has already been used twice already? So ultimately I think I'd bring back Kingpin as a major force, and have Electro be his new, and much more powerful, henchman. Just so long as they give Electro a new costume, because the one from the comics is ridiculous, even more so than the Green Goblin suit from the first movie. And so by now, an entire storyline revolving around Kingpin would have been developed in the previous two movies, and would come to its conclusion here.
So there you go, the Spider-Man series as done by me.

For the next film, I'd like to see Lizard come to fruition, as well as carry-on the second act of the symbiote saga. The details vary, but basically, I want the symbiote to latch onto Lizard, creating some sort of perversion. How fucking SICK would that look.
Pretty fuckin' sick.
I can't believe that throughout the panthion of the character, with all the writers and all the decades of storylines, no one has ever thought to have the symbiote latch onto the Lizard, or various other villains, for that matter. Rhino? Vulture? It would all look incredible, and be about a million times more entertaining than the shit they've shelled out over the years.
Fucking clones, anyone? Gahaaaa...

We will have too wait too see what happens with Fantastic Four 2. But i'd like to see the F-4 and Spidey take on Dr. Doom.
Since the Punisher really didnt do much movie wise, they should team up Spidey and the Punisher against Kraven. Of course Spiderman and Frank would have to battle each other for awhile.
I think Morbius would be a great addition to a Spiderman movie. Then they could connect Ghost Rider later on.

I loved Spiderman 3, but I thought that they wasted the villians by having far too many in the one movie. What made the 1st 2 awesome was that there was only one villian. Sandman and Venom were wasted by putting them together.
Villians I would like to see
Electro
Rhino

I think the golden goblin mask in Spiderman 3 is a hint at what is to come...
Other than that I would like to see Scorpion, Shocker, Hydroman, Electro, Mysterio, and Tombstone.
I think Hobgoblin and Tombstone could pair up well. It could be really cool if they made the movie take place during halloween.

I'd like to see Jonah get more involved in trying to take out Spiderman and helps create The Scorpion, which of course just backfires on him (JJJ that is).
I sense that they're hesitant to make Jonah a real bad guy in these films, so they could explain it away as the Chameleon taking over his persona and the Bugle like he did in the comics for awhile. That was a cool storyline.
Throw in Lizard, and Mysterio, and of course the return of Venom and you have storylines for the next 3 films.

The only other Spidey villain I know of is Kang (?) -- he wore a sort of purple-and-green costume and a sort of diving helmet in the comics. I'm not sure how great of a villian he's considered, though.

Pretty sure Kang was more of a Capt' America/Avengers villian. Spidey might've met up with him during Secret Wars or something. I don't know that Kang ever turned up in a Spidey book, which doesn't mean that he didn't.

Actually I distinctly remember seeing a comic when I was a kid that had Spider-Man combating Kang. The only other thing I remember about it is that it was Thanksigiving-themed. Go figure.

He was all but in Spider-Man 3. Sir Ben Kingsley was even cast and design work had begun before they talked Raimi in to replacing him with Venom.
So, it wouldn't surprise me to see Vulture and The Lizard for Spider-Man 4.
I'd love to see Scorpion and Rhino get a live action shot one day. They'd translate well to the big screen. If Sony doesn't grab the Rhino rights, I can see Marvel using the character in a Hulk movie down the line. It would be cool to see an opening battle sequence of either Spider-Man or Hulk going at it with Rhino. A strict action scene to open a film that has nothing to do with the plot, ALA a Lethal Weapon sequel. Just get fans buzzing to start a movie and then engage in the story.

I'd like to see Venom and Sandman redone properly but for the ones we haven't seen I think the most interesting would be:

Kraven
Vulture
After what they did to Venom I'm not sure I'd want Carnage though I think Raimi's horror background could really help play Carnage out really well.

Spider 4:
Start the opening with Spidey foiling the Shocker's bank robbery attempt. This would be a sweet comic throwback while giving the audience a fun start to the movie and a chance to get used to a new actor's portrayal of Spidey. I always wanted to see a cool 'day-in-the-life-of' scene using a low level villain in these films.
Have the Lizard show up and cause havoc, attracting the attention of Kraven the Hunter. Kraven could be gunning for both Lizard and Spidey which could make for some badass free-for-all action scenes as Spidey tries to balance two foes.
It is just an idea but I think it would be a good way to have two compelling villains onscreen instead of just relying on the Lizard to carry the film.

I'm starting to be of the opinion that Venom needs to make a re-appearance in these films in one form or another. There's just too many good storylines they could do with him (I like the plot from Amazing Spidey #346 & #347, where Venom captures Spidey and takes him to a deserted island so they can finally brawl it out--and Spidey has to fake his own death to make Venom leave him the fuck alone--whether or not this would work in a movie remains to be seen).
I would also love to see the Chameleon taking over J Jonah Jameson's identity & the Bugle from Web Of Spiderman #50. That would make for some great scenes for the guy who plays Jonah as he gets to basically be a villain for awhile.
I would like to also see Mysterio worked into this next series of films, somehow. Give him a total revamp, fine, but make it happen!

Here's a list of some I'd like to see, not as actually having 'em appear in the next movie, but more like if I lived in a dream-world where Spidey movies were done as perfect on-screen comicbook-movie masterpieces with unlimited budgets:
10. The Hobgoblin - Actually this is what I thought Harry Osborn's character could've evolved into if they had ruined his storyline with his portrayal in the the 3rd. film.
9. Black Cat/the Puma - More like two notable mentions that would look cool if they could ever decide which side of the law they're on.
8. Swarm/Vermin - A guy who can control an army horde of rats & a guy who can control a giant swarm of bees?
Kuhooo-oool.......
7. Tombstone - Just a very simple, scary & cool looking villain. If he were more popular, it would be great to see what he would look like on the big screen as a live action character.
6. Scorpion - Let's be honest. There is no insect motif cooler than that of a scorpion. I always thought that this was a character that should've been fleshed out more, visually & characterally to match the idea of his namesake.
5. The Tarantula - I always liked a new twist on the spider theme. A mexican assasin with shoes pointier than Desi Arnez's ( whoa.... I can actually hear all of the younger Spider fans out there in unison ask "Desi who...?").
4. Hammerhead - A brutish crimeboss dressed like a gangster from the roaring twenties with a big ol' flathead reinforced with steel from the inside. Nuff said.
Oh, okay....
maybe not.
3. Vulture - I just like the fact that this guy's human features looks almost exactly like that of his namesake.
2. Morbius - Before there was Blade, there Dr. Michael Morbius, first holder of the title of Vampiric BadAss.
1. Electro - Considered as one Spidey's more powerful villians , though the goofy star-shaped headpiece & overkill lightning bolt motifed costume undermined the deadliness of his powers ( & even though, I kinda like the green & gold color combo, I'm probably in the minority. These days, if the character isn't in mostly black, he/she isn't really considered any kind of a real threat). Something more simple & easier to digest for non-comicbook fans.

I'd love to see Electro, but they'd REALLY have to work on his costume to make it work on screen. Ditto Mysterio.
