PARIS (Reuters) - Palestinian President Yasser Arafat is dead, senior Palestinian political sources said on Tuesday.
The information from sources close to Arafat could not immediately be confirmed.

"He is dead," one of the sources close to Arafat said in Paris, where Arafat has been lying in a coma at a French hospital. Officials in the West Bank said they had not been informed that Arafat was dead

Well, love him or hate him, he was a very powerful and influentual man. I don't believe the lack of peace was really his or exclusively the Palestinians' fault, but the refusal of either side to budge on their positions.

Aren't there uproarings about Sharon's refusal to allow him to be buried in Jerusalem? I say let him be rested where he would like. Damn religions.

I'd like to say that I'm not happy when anyone dies but I say good riddence. I think Israel and Palestine both need more comprimising leaders for negotiations, although Hamas, Hezbola, and the rest of those nutjobs need to be subdued.

I hope that Palestine and Israel make peace and find a way to co-exist. Even as Christians, Jews, Hindus and other religious groups wish for respect, we should take the time to remember that Islam is a religion faced with even tougher challenges than our own. We should respect and remember that there is a second side to every conflict. May Mr. Arafat find peace and the home he sought for his people as he crosses into death.
