knowing that the previous movies are PG, whenever i complete reading the goblet of fire, i keep thinking how is it possible for this movie to get the same rating, here are some reasons:
1. Voldemorts shape
2. The scenes at the graveyard
3. voldemort performing the avada kedavra on cedric
I will come up with some more when i remember them, but as far as i can remember, there are alot of bloody scenes that shouldnt be cut out.
FUCK THE PG RATING

You know, duder, the Harry Potter films are Pg for one simple reason ... The Target Market are CHILDREN. Now before you Avada Kadaver me, I would love to see an R-rated Potter film as much as you but at the most it would be 14A, which is a pipe dream as well.
You better resign to the fact that it WILL be Pg. Sorry dude.

It'll probably get one of those PG with strong caution (kinda like Jurassic Park years back) ratings, but yeah I'm having trouble seeing how they can tone down the ending of GOF too. That chapter reads like something out of a friday the 13th or nightmare on elm street film

I can see it getting a PG-13.. Just like Pirates of the Carribean.

I agree. I'm suprised the last one didn't get a PG-13, those Dementors scared the shit out of me when I first saw them, and more than a few parents walked their kids out during a scene or two.
If it gets a PG-13, they'll cut it to get a PG.
Like son_of_arrow said, these films are for kids.

My kids would be disappointed if they were not allowed watching the movies. My wife is strict on that issue

Am I missing something on the Harry Potter certifcate ratings, but if the Potter books are read by kids, surely the movies should be for kids. In the UK all of the movies got a PG rating (kids can be any age but parentel guidence is advised), if the rating was any higher, there would be outrage. What is the point of making a movie for kids if only older kids can watch it? There is absolutly no way GOF will be R, that's like it being 15 over here in the UK. I doubt it will even get a 12A here (PG-13), it'll be a PG to avoid all the compliants parents will make on their kid's behalf. Britian is full of complainers who will nit-pick over the smallest of things.

I hope they will be able to capture 99.9% of the book onto film but as much as 200% an R rating which hehe I could care less on its definately gonna be PG-13.

Yeah, it can easily make a PG-13 rating.
It's not like Cedric's head blows off and brain splatters everywhere when the spell is performed. It will be moody and much darker, but not an R.
Although if the head did blow off and we saw entrails and guts and that type of stuff, I'd have much more respect for Newell. That would take BALLS. But the studio wouldn't let it fly.

But aren't the books supposed to be getting more adult and mature along with Harry and gang?
The stories are getting darker. Are the filmmakers just supposed to ignore this when making the film? I think a PG-13 for the next two films is the ONLY appropriate rating. Anything less would be a disservice to the franchise and the books.

I suppose a PG-13 would be okay (and likely). That's a 12A over here which means anyone under 12 must be accompenied by an adult. The new Star Wars movie was 12A and that had a lot of dark bits in so I suppose Potter will go the same way. Anything over a 12A or PG-13 would be stupid, the books are getting darker but they are still kid's books.
it is PG-13 for intense fantasy violence and frightening moments you can go look on www.comingsoon.net

Yah, I was looking at "Dan" Radcliffe's website and he isn't the best looking teenager around.
Although most of the pictures on his website were without glasses, personally I think he looks better with glasses.
But talk about a sweet pickup line...
"I'm a wizard baby, want to go back to my place?" ;)
I wonder if Daniel will be able to continue an acting career, or just be stuck doing conventions for the rest of his life.

If parents let their kids read the books then they should be allowed to see the movies, assuming the directors don't take too much creative license.
When I pre-ordered my tickets from (and I swear this isn't a plug! :p ) movietickets.com, my confirmation said the film was "NR for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images".
I plan on seeing HP4 with my older sister and neice and nephew who are 8 and 4. It will be the first time we've take my nephew with us to see a HP movie. I am fully aware that he'll probably have the crap scared out of him a few times, but hey thats all part of being a kid. Maybe it's not...oh well!
PG or R I don't care, as long at they stick close to the book.
"I'm a wizard baby, want to go back to my place?"
That'd work for me! :P

Well, they're getting there. When the Beaxbatons girls enter the Great Hall, Ron stares at their asses (and makes a comment about doing it with a lot of girls later). He tells Harry to "piss off" when they have their little falling out. In terms of violence, it's not too terrible -- the Avada Kedavra on Cedric is fairly bloodless.
