I've said some bad things about the band in the past, but I can officially say it as of right now...I like The Beatles! That's right, a former hater has officially been turned into a fan. Why? Well, I guess I just finally realized how great they were. That doesn't mean I don't understand why some people hate them, because I'm a former hater. But, now, with 112 (and a bit over 5 and a half hours) of Beatles material (excluding solo work) on my computer, I think I'm into them enough to call myself a Beatles fan. I might even pick up that new boxed set (The Capitol Years, Vol. 1) that is supposed to come out tomorrow...
Any recommendations for boxed sets of theirs?
Regardless...I am now one of you. Love it or leave it.

Congrats!
welcome to the Dark side, it was your destiny.
I suggest not really box sets, but regular albums.
1. White Album
2. Sgt. Peps
3. Abbey Road
4. Revolver
5. Rubber Soul
6. Let It Be (naked or original)!
7. Help!
etc, etc.

....Congratulations, I guess?
I've yet to make that conversion, but I've been contemplating picking up the white album, or maybe Sgt. Pepper's etc. just to see what the fuss is all about.
Another satisfied customer!!

Pick up Sgt. Pepper, and you might understand the fuss. I think it's the most important album of all-time.
Yes...another piece of the puzzle falls into place.
Anyhow, I'd suggest any album 1966 or after, as their earlier stuff tends to turn a lot of new fans off.
I love all of it, however...you can't really go wrong.

1. Let it Be(IMO their best)
2. Abbey Road
3. Revolver
4. The White Album
5. Rubber Soul
Thats the order of albums I got into them with.
I used to think they were an overrated peice of shit band, you dont Realize how many amazing song they have. Not just the ones they always play.

Welcome to the club bankholdup.
I too, think you should start with albums rather than the boxed sets.
Start with these...
1- The White Album
2- Let It Be
3- Rubber Soul
4- Abbey Road
5- Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Ah, welcome, my good man. 'Tis a glorious side of music.
Anyhoo...I pretty much agree with what has been said. They're 1966-1970 stuff is their best...but, if you wanna go with some early stuff, I'd suggest Please Please Me or A Hard Day's Night.
Their best, of course, are: Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, The White Album, Abbey Road, and (their best IMO) Let it Be.
The essentails for The Beatles, and for music in general.

I like this list. It definitely reflects the better work of the Beatles. Not that the early stuff was bad, just that the later years were so much better to me. Let It Be is my favorite, though.
